lava lamp appreciation day

wasn't sure where to post this but...
we should have a lava lamp appreciation day! we should designate a day, say the day it was invented or something, and everyone should have theirs on all day and give it a name, or if they dont have one, buy one!
what do ya think?

ive had mine on for about two days and so far so good! depends on the quality i guess...

 

How about August 15? That's the day that the inventor died. I can't find any dates of when he invented it.

Thats not how he said it, but i cant find it anywhere, and i only heard it once on the radio...

 

there seems to be a day to celebrate everything else... I don't see why not to have this day

I just turned mine on today for the first time in months. Knock the dust off and now it's heating up for it's beautiful show later.

 

you could leave presents around the base like christmas-no that would commercialize it too much lol
the bulb in mine went out today
that would be hilarious if i got paid time and a half at work for lava lamp appreciation day hahaha

I love lava lamps and found a use for one of the BIGGER ones. I mean the reeeeeeeally big ones. Check this link this link out but remember to not put ur betta in one of the smaller lava lamps it wouldnt give him enough space at the top to breath and prolly isnt enough water for him to live in. I think it would be really cool to make a lava lamp that had a very small one of those bubble rocks in it too. To bad Im not that good with electricity and Im not sure how I would drill a hole up though the bottom of the glass lava lamp.........any ideas? Obviously you wouldnt plug it in either ........doh

brkonthru, that aquarium idea is great! maybe if you just put like a "party light" behind it, it would have the apearance of a lava lamp.
my lava-bulb blew out a week ago...gotta get another one. its hard to find the right kind tho for mine anyways!

 

My lava lamp broke. we had a power surge and one day and it just never turned on again.

 

ok this is sad and hilarious:
my sister told me that one day this kid's lava lamp base broke, so he put the glass lava container on the stove and lit the stove, causing it to explode and killed him this was actually in my local area news!
so, use caution on lava lamp appreciation day! ^_^

I left mine on for two and a half straight days, and nothing happened, exept that the background liquid got a little foggy. I dunno if it has anything to do with quality. I got mine from a thrift store, and the pieces aren't even all from the same original lamp.
