my 'darling daughter' got what i am guessing is acrylic paint - hot pink - all over her black tracksuit. does anyone know how to get this out? i just washed it but its still there...i haven't dried it yet so i'm hoping there is still a possibility of saving it. it looks so cute on her i don't want it trashed :(

Try making a paste of oxyclean (i use an off-brand, and it actually works a bit better) and water, and let it sit until it dries, then wash in warm water. That's what i use on really tough stains, and i've even been able to get ink out with it. If it doesn't come out the first time, but it fades the stain a little, repeat and see if more comes out.

the problem with acrylic paint, other then something like waterpaint, ist that acrylic (which is some kind of plastic stuff) glues to the fibers. So first you have to "unglue" it, and then get the stain from the pigments out. I am a painter so I have problems of that kind very often ;-)

there is a prodult here in germany, it's a two-component thing, there's probably something like that in the US too. One is an acrylic solvent, that destroys te plastic, and you are able to get the hard part of the paint out of the plastic. THis might not work for clothes that are made out of acrylic or other synthetic fibers.....

the other thing is a bleach type of thing, that clears out the stain. Which is probably not necessary in a black suit

By all means try the other tips first to get it out... but if all else fails... why not paint wild dots, splotches and stripes on the whole thing. :)

I got a stain on a new halter top once, couldn't get it out... finally I tried this aggressive stain remover, knowing it'd probably bleach the color out too. Well, it did, so I just took the stain remover & sorta rubbed it all over, the thing ended up looking like a tie-dye. Afterwards I actually got quite a few people saying they liked my top, and where did I get it! I guess it wasn't an ideal situation since I'd obviously liked it as it was when I bought it, but it worked out real well & I'll definitely do something like it again next time I run into a stain I really can't get out, rather than toss it...
