they did, but I can't listen to their stuff unless it's the live version for some reason. maybe it's the audience screaming at the beginning that gets me going.

    ugh.

I'm one of the haters. The grateful dead were best 68-73 after that they seemed to just kinda phone it in.

i like the pre-80s dead better but ill still listen to shows from the 80s and 90s. i just prefer jerrys guitar sound pre-80s...jerrys tone was always getting slightly thinner as the years went on but after maybe 82 or 83 it gets real thin. listen to something from europe 72 then something from the 90s if youre not sure what i mean...youll be able to hear it

In Europe 72 Jerry was playing a sratacaster, and in the 90's he was playing rosebud. A guitar that is considered a classic vs a guitar with midi capabilities built in. Definitely gonna be at least a tone change.

I'm not a huge fan of the Jerry, Brent, Vince horn section, I am a fan of the 80's dead, and earlier. Although I'd take JGB over 90's dead.

i really like the meaty sound he gets pre-74 when he played mainly the alligator strat and sg's before. it still has that jerry quack but just a thicker sound, i think its nice. i think his sound started to thin out when he started using the Tiger guitar that he used throughout the 80s and with rosebud in the 90s it get even thinner.

ive been getting more into JGB lately and have been loving it
