    Hi all,

So I've been smoking, vaping flower and eating vape poo for about 9 years now. I'm in my late 50's and find that I much prefer the feeling of being high over "reality" in that I have less stress, social anxiety and think much more clearly when high (just buzzed, not stoned) for problem solving and creative thinking. My problem the last year or two is that daily usage seems to be causing me to experience some sleep issues. If I get high for 4 or more days in a row I start to experience sleepiness and low energy states that feel as though I'm not getting enough deep or possibly REM sleep and have to back off for a day or two to feel better. Weed hangovers?

Has anyone else had to deal with this and if so, what if anything helped other than taking breaks as I've had to start doing?

Sorry that you're going through this.

You might want to check out these two links (to pages on HF):

From the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, marijuana use is going to drain your energy. There may be some herbs that you can take that will help limit that.

Thank you, yes its been difficult but its definitely been better then when I used to use alcohol to self medicate. That almost led to severe illnesses and thankfully I'm not controlled by it any longer and only drink once in a while now socially or on special occasions. Marijuana has really helped me control my depression and social anxiety. If anyone knows of any herbs or anything that helps with sleep related side effects please let me know. Thanks.

    You're welcome!
My experience is that it helps in the short term but makes things worse in the long term.
In traditional Chinese medicine, herbs usually have to be prescribed, and are almost always combined with other herbs. It's not as easy as saying "take herb [x]" to treat a problem.

If you can't find an herbalist near you, I know of at least one place that will make prescriptions over the phone and then mail you the herbs. There may be other places that do that same, but I don't know any off hand. If you're interested, I can PM you the details (I don't want to spam the forums).
