Lady Paradox

You're cool and warm

Hot and cold

Open and mysterious

Bright and unfathomable

You make me feel like I can do anything

You make me feel helpless

I want to sweep you off your feet

I want to run and hide

Your smile is an invitation and a warning

I know everything about you

I wonder what your name is.

 

This poem is cliche' and original


Romantic and a little creepy (now that I think about it).

 

I loved it. Maybe it would seem somewhat little cliche to an experience poet, but to someone a bit more naive, (like myself ) the ending was a total surprise. You did a great job of setting that up.

It does leave the reader feeling a bit... unsettled. Which is totally awesome.

Well it relies heavily on contrasts, some more original than others (hot & cold, warm & cool)
But -invitation & a warning-, -know everything about you - yet not your name- Liked those a lot! Reckless, desperate, and yeah romantic...
