Here in europe people say that kool aid was something like a cult drink in the hippie era? I once had a packet of it and it tasted not so special but it was not bad. In the books "electric kool aid acid test" and in "drop city" its mentioned often. Had kool aid a cult status back in the sixties?
haha, yea man kool aid is awesome, but in suicide cults in the sixties people used to make kool aid mixed with poison, thats why people make the reference to kool aid when there talking about crazy people. Atleast thats what i think the reference is, as far as the acid thing im not sure what the connection is.
in the book .the electric kool aid acid test ,kool aid was mixed with acid ,hence the name ...there is no significance to kool aid and hippies except that it was and still is a popular drink ..could just as well have been coke or pepsi

Actually the cult thing comes from the 1970's when Jim Jones' cult, The People's Temple, drank purple kool-aid that Jim laced with cyanide and arsenic. He had all these people convinced he was a god and to follow him down to Guyana, South America. He was a wackjob...but that's what the people that mentioned the cult was referring to.
i love kool aid. i eat it from the packet. but one time i was blazed and didn't realize what i was doing, ate too much, almost burnt right through my damn tongue. kool aid is radical.

The people who ran the Acid Tests where they had electric Kool Aid were Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters who turned more people on to acid than any people before them, and probably anybody after them
Jim Jones actually used the lesser know brand "Flavor-aid" drink mix laced with cyanide for the mass suicide at Jonestown. People just often call simular drink mixes Kool-aid because it is more well know. Kool-Aid is the 3rd largest selling soft drink in the U.S.
