Know any racist pigs? You might like to watch this old episode of Rumpole. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7Egona2-i0
Yes I do unfortunately. How long has the UK had immigrants????You'd think they'd be over it by now! If you have a derogatory view of immigrants/other races of "humans"then you must view yourself that way. We're all mongrels afterall are'nt we?? I'm Australian, but my ancestors were british, before that?Italian and Israeli, before that?Indian!
I find myself quite surprised that - thanks to the book of face - I find some of my closest friends displaying posts which I find quite disturbing. In life, an attitude of tolerance and understanding, whereas the comments / pix / posts saying provocatively different things. Sometimes the truth hides behind a well crafted mask
I tend to disengage with anyone who holds racist views. People with that kind of limited intelligence just don't have any appeal for me.
It would be great if every 'racist' was really unintelligent. Unfortunely some are pretty smart. They just have their own reasons to discriminate others. I can get along with people who hold racist views. Don't hit me! Of course it does matter how they express such views. Some don't shut up about it, or are simply very nasty, or oppressive and intimidating. This is what usually makes me say you're not worth my time. People are entitled to their own views, some happen to be a bit discriminating. I am not immediatly chased away if I take notice of one. But as usual: that depends on the details. Some people are just a dick about their views.
To me to discriminate on grounds of race seems to show some lack of true intelligence. But of course, that's just my own view. Maybe it's something more than intelligence I mean. To be well disposed towards others without regard to race would appear to me to be a kind of basic metric of something - probably not intelligence as measured by an IQ test. Ethical intelligence maybe. No doubt many of the Nazis were highly intelligent in one sense. But it does look a bit lopsided somehow. Often racism is more of a visceral thing than something thought out, although there are exceptions I suppose. Certainly no intention to hit anyone because of their views, or because they cosy up to those I dislike.
To me racism is just one form of discrimination. It is not really special, or the worst kind/form of discrimination. Excluding someone from things in society or treat them in a special way because we dislike their race/etnicity, their beliefs, their sexual orientation (opposite gender bathroom seems an arguable situation btw but this is not a racial thing) their hobbies etc. etc. etc. is all equally unfavourable at first.
Tolerance or better acceptance of others who are different is certainly something good. When I say I dislike racists, I mean that I don't want to have to hear what they have to say, as I've heard it all before. On the other hand, I have no plans to begin rounding them up or anything like that.... In the past many groups have suffered because of discrimination - women, gays, transgender etc. I would say though that slavery as practised by the Imperial powers of the past and in the USA must rank among the worst crimes against humanity ever committed. Ditto the Nazi final solution. It's because of such things that I close my ears to racist rhetoric, as well as misogyny, gay bashing, xenophobia and the rest. It's an easy thing for people to seek to put the blame on this or that group as the cause of their own problems. I think that may be true of nations as much as individuals. The herd mentality is a dangerous thing.
If I'd been the one starting this thread I would have left it at 'racists' and left out the 'pigs'.Racists are not pigs but human - all too human perhaps.
Probably in some ways. Why would I want to hang out with a bunch of dummies? What would we talk about? My prejudice though doesn't extend far beyond not having such people in my little circle of friends.
I almost got out with a psycho racist female pig about 7-10 days ago who on top of that was a religious zealot. I'm telling you our exact conversation: She: Black people and gays must all die. Me: Why? She: The bible says homosexuality is a sin. Me (pretending to agree with her): OK. But what about black people? Why should they die too? She: Satan created the black people. That's why they're black. As Satan's creation they must all die... At that moment I wish I had a planet in front of me, so that I can do this:
Someone actually said that about black people? Wow, you wouldn't have the nerve! Sometimes it's stuff like that shows religion is still brain washing! Kind of like radicalisation! More ignorance than racist
He's from Bulgaria apparently, maybe there are less black people there? The less experience a person has with something the more likely it is they have some ignorant conviction about them. Religion and religious people are an excellent example on itself. Most people who have no clue about why someone would seriously join a religion project all kinds of retarded stuff on religious folks (these forums are a great source for examples of that). Same with our exotic african fellow men 50 years ago it was quite common to find a dutch person who never saw a black person, let alone talked with them. Silly convictions about blacks stemming from the past and stupid stereotypes were believed as if they were the truth. People were certain it was so but they didn't actually knew any blacks themselves. Then it is easy to go by a common accepted theory (in your area at least) even if it is bullshit.
