My dreads are just a little over a week old, but something I've noticed is that while the end three quarters are holding up fine, the base bit doesn't seem as knotted -- its more like straight hairs leading up into a knot. I generally have straight hair to begin with, so I guess my question is whether or not the base will knot up with time, or if there is something else I can do? I'd post pics, but I don't have access to a camera atm.
undreaded roots are normal no matter how mature the locks are. as the hair grows out it will dread up on its own
hes wrong its completely unnatural to have loose roots. u should use a crochet hook and stab at ur skull to tighten them up. for sure. and palm roll some wax into the roots also to help them lock up.
^Maybe not, but you ARE a silly goose. Apollo: grab the dread a little above the roots rub the dread in a clockwise fashion be gentle, but make sure the dread knows who's boss (the dread is always the boss) see what the dread thinks after a couple days (don't do this all that often as it can break hairs if you're too rough or too persistent) Also... there will always be SOME loose hair, but the rub can help close the gap
dont close the gap the gaps meantt to be there dont rub it takes care of itself if uts dreaded rightto tye scalp the scalp never gets clean the ghairs oullo unevenly and cause pain the dread sticks straight up and u need thaty space to alow the dread to move and knott dreads require no work at all..
My roots are really tight at the roots to the point where they are painful in places because I put in beads close to the root. If you get a big bead and wear it near the root it will knot up. I don't really like them like that personally but if that's what you're into, that's what's worked for me.
