I got a 8 month old kitty and an 8 week old puppy,and my kitty hisses at the puppy and is really curious about what the hell he is all about. Sometimes she hisses,and sometimes she goes near him and just stares...Do you think she(cat) would try to beat up the pup if she got the chance? We tried to bring them close together but my cat freaks out with all of her fur standing and claws out,so I put her down and she just runs away. Whats the best way to get her use to the puppy?
theres nothing you can do but giver it time. my cat was the same when we first brought our dog into the family and i think most cats do. now shes used to them and just ignores them. hopefully your two can become friends since they are both young. make sure your dog understands that your cat is part of the family and he must treat her accordingly. your cat will relax eventually but dont try to force them together, thats counterproductive. good luck
Hi, I have a Rottweiler (Kia) and used to have 2 cats aswell (had the cats before the dog). to start with the cats used to hiss and scratch her, so it turned out that Kia was scared of my cats to the point i would have to move them to one side so my dog could walk past...lol, but like Wanderin blues and sprout said, "with time" she respected their boundries and eventually they got on, to the point, one of the cats used to sleep next to her. Thanks for the tips... They were face to face on their own the other day,so I'm pretty sure the kitty doesn't wan't to hurt him cause if she did, she had the perfect chance.She still runs away from him most of the time.But little by little she's getting closer.
