What do you guys think the key to happiness is? I think happiness comes from within so its just the way you decide to look at things and if you choose to be happy or not.

    If you are talking

    about joy without

    suffering, there is

    no such key.

    I
    f you are talking about

    just being generally content

and at peace with the world, then

I would say it will be

    there when you stop

    convincing yourself that

    y
    ou don't have it by

    seeking it.

I agree with your view also, I'm not really religious but I believe in the Buddhist practise of Karma is one of the ways to happiness. Do something kind and helpful and it will be returned to you. I always feel happier when I help someone else.

I'm not sure if all people are able to choose to be happy.

You can't control your emotions and I'm sick of these happy fuckers that are most likely enraged and depressed on the inside saying I can. That's supressing and ignoring, not control.

There's always limiting how much contact you have with people and situations that make you unhappy.

your emotions are one of the few things in life you do have or should have control over... if something is causing you to feel a certain way then it is up to you to change that...you either change how you react to something or someone or remove yourself from that if it is making you feel a particular way that you do not wish to feel... It really isnt that difficult a task.....

i myself find it very easy to be happy in life most all the time....If you relieve yourself of all expectations,,, you can not be disappointed in anything.... and even the slightest bit of good in anything is all the more wonderful and pleasing ..... no that is not looking at the glass as half empty.....

i think the key to happiness is both control over the self (mind body and soul) as to look upon a situation as it is and not what it should be, shortly stated

Understanding and acceptance in all meanings of those words. I still think the key doesn't work for everybody, if you look at war victims for an easy example.

I agree, The Art of Happiness by the Dalai Lama has a lot of wisdom on the subject. Happiness is a choice, and the key to being happy is to choose happiness.

i think happiness is being content with your life as it is, rather than being miserable because it's not everything you might wish it were.

I have been feeling very unhappy lately, mostly because I am a furiouse capitalist fueled by money, I have been waiting for some deald to close so that I can make some cash and consequently feel better. Its very pathetis and sad to live this way because it affects all aspects of my life social etc.. Step by step im trying to change because I feel im getting on in years and losing a lot because of this way ff thinking.
I see a lot of people in worse financial conditions but enjoying life many times more that I do so its true "life IS as good as YOU make it"

well i think this also have to do with some kind of acceptance, and trying to change some things in your life, do things that make you happier. I know a victim of war, and he is recovering bit by bit doing what he likes to do and tell people about that war so that it can find a place.
