Let's get into the transition from Democrat controlled House with Nancy Pelosi to the Republican House with Kevin McCarthy at the Top. Reports are coming in about his agenda - funny, it seems inflation is not on his list even though it was the big-ticket item Republicans spouted about just a few weeks ago.. Instead, we are talking Hunter Biden's laptop and we are talking which Democrats will be removed from their positions on various committees. And then there are these rumors about the far-right congressional representatives - such as our darlings from Georgia and Colorado - and what their influence will be like over Kevin. It's interesting to note that a few years ago when Nancy Pelosi was elevated to the top spot in the House, her colleagues were angry at Bush and wanted revenge... but she played it cool and controlled everyone's emotions... and good things came of it (at least in my mind they were good). She was able to lead her party to victory on a number of good pieces of legislation and help her party win the White House. What do we think Kevin's chances are?
He is a liar. When he was in college he claimed to open the first sandwich shop in Bakersfield, California. Turns out he occupied a corner of a relative's ice cream store. Even his grandmother said he was a phony.
His agenda is to unravel all that was accomplished over the last two years. Large Marge needs a new boyfriend with cred, maybe he'll take the bait...
Matt Gaetz says he'll 'resign' from Congress if the Democratic Party changes tack and elects a moderate Republican for speaker (msn.com) The little weasel should have resigned a long time ago but let's hope they call his bluff and that puts McCarthy out to pasture as well.
This is good. Now these politicians, know how the public feels, when we go to vote, and look at the choices we have. You don't want to vote for either of them, but you have to vote. I was told don't bitch if you don't vote. but it's sad in a country like America you hate to vote for either one. I guess I could become a republican or a democrat and vote that way. I have hoped to see someone who looks out for the working man, who pays taxes and pays their wage, but I doubt. that will happen.
Well, I certainly hope it was worth it having sold his soul to the devil. He gave everything away but the kitchen sink
I hear ya... and I have learned the pressure of a new candidate to conform to party rules is immense. People like Ms Stefanik, from upstate NY - she went to Congress with great promise of working for her constituents up north, called a moderate willing to work with her party and reach across party lines...but in a very short time, she took up the MAGA mantle and embraced the more far right agenda of the Republicans - got power happy, found herself schmoozing and ended up taking Liz Cheney's place as the #3 person in power - Can't help wonder how things will go now for her that McCarthy has the gavel - with these factions of even more far-right calling McCarthy too moderate, you gotta wonder. I was raised in a moderately conservative north country environment - we were Democrats, but conservative ones - I wasn't always happy with some of the things that went on in that party and tipped towards Republican ideology 40 years ago - but over time, I've seen this get crazier and crazier, OR maybe I have just grown more liberal... All I know is - we have to vote for the candidate that #1, will do what we think is the best job for us, and #2 when things get nuts, vote for the candidate that will win. Thinking back on how the younger folks were throwing their support behind Bernie - even when he said "vote for Hillary". they didn't and she lost - and look where we are now... not that she was perfect, but man - what a ride it's been since 2016. and it appears we are still in for one helluva ride yet.
He finally won, the 15th time was the charm! Kevin McCarthy elected Republican U.S. House speaker, but at a cost | Reuters But the GOP is still very divided, things are even getting physical! Remember when he said “I want you to watch Nancy Pelosi hand me that gavel. It will be hard not to hit her with it," well it's put up or shut up
