I'm not exactly Bush's biggest fan, and he's done a few things to piss me off too, but this story is priceless. After hearing about how John Kerry is so much more intellectual and far more intelligent than George W. Bush for the last couple of years, the truth is finally revealed. It's a bunch of bullshit. John Kerry had similar grades to George Bush.
Well, you gotta remeber that grades really have very little to do with intelligence. I barely got a 1.0 my last term at high school but i have a genius-level i.q. (not bragging or anything but there it is)...
But you're not even intelligent enough to know how to use what talents you have to turn your supposed genius level IQ into sucessful results. At this rate, you'll find yourself a philosophy spewing janitor, or maybe even get to drive a garbage truck while doing advanced calculus in your head if you're really lucky, much less ever hold public office.
You think you have the whole world figured out, don't ya? Some people are very smart but not good in school environments. Or not good at tests. Einstein did not do so well in school, yet I think we can all agree he was far more intelligent that either Bush or Kerry. Is it even possible for you to post a message without being insulting? Or do you get a kick out of being an asshole on the internet? You certainly have a lot of opinions on other people, ever think of taking a look in the mirror?
I do agree that highschool grades don't have all that much to do with brains... but in college it's kinda different, you don't get all the stupid homework so it's alot more about your actual knowledge Einstein did bad in grade school and dropped out, later (really late actually) he went to college and got a PhD (if I'm wrong about this my bad, but I think I remember hearing this on History or something....)
It's the janitors, or garbage collectors, or patent clerks doing advanced calculus that are in a position to truly revolutionize the world. Those that enter public office, in fact in most positions where you have to 'succeed' (read make an obscenely large amount of money and supposidly have control over a large amount of people) first need a sociopathic disregard for other human life and an unbending ambition to get to the top. these people end up miserable. A patent clerk in switzerland can look at a train, and then out the window at a kid playing with a yo-yo and help pull back another layer of the universe. these people end up happy, if unappreciated. You have your priorites backwards, and a fundamental ignorance about the nature of happiness. You see, happiness isn't the natural state of human affairs, it's used as more of a motivational tool than a destination. You always over estimate how much something will make you happy, haven't you ever noticed? (remember christmas, if that's your tradition, it's better to have an unwrapped box than a crappy pair of loafers). Once you realize how hollow and miserable 'success' is, you will be liberated... Keep up the thinking though, i can tell you have a spark, let it grow into a wildfire.....
Einstein got A's B's C's and an F in college. Pretty much average, I got better grades. Grades given are not an absolute measure of intelligence. And getting bad grades in school doesn't mean one will never go beyond janitor in their life. That is just a childish, inexperienced notion. My husband never finished 9th grade, but is supporting us very well with his leadership role in IT at his job - working for Microsoft. He is extremely intelligent and able to learn anything, but does terrible on tests and had a hard time socially in school. In fact, he doesn't even have a GED, but he is putting me through school and buying us a home. I also have a friend that got straight A's all through school who is cleaning houses for a living regardless of her degree. I used to manage salespeople who had college degrees of all kinds, when I hadnt even started school yet. So, like the Mark Twain quote: “It’s better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you are a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”
Yeah I definently agree with you. I know this dude that dropped out, that is now getting paid like 18 an hour at comcast, going to Pitt (transferred form community college), and on his way into politics.
I can't stand people that pre-judge others with little or no knowledge about them. To tell someone they will end up a philosophy-spewing janitor because of their genius IQ but bad grades is ignorant and arrogant. Could you imagine what my parents thought when they learned I was marrying a high school dropout? I tried and tried to convince them of his potential and intelligence, but they didn't want to hear it, they just wanted to believe the average old rheortic about grades and school. Now they are all impressed with him, and love him as part of the family (and have also apologized to me about their attitudes). The world is not so black and white, and people that think so need to wake up. There are about a million factors that affect what measure of "success" a person will have in their lives, including their own personal definition of success. Grades and behavior in school is not the only thing that affects personal success. Anyone that thinks that is either probably still in school and not had the chance to gain the life experience as an adult on their own, or are just too far seperated from reality to know any better (or to reason with at all).
Whatever. The point I tried to make is that many of you are the same people that called Bush a dumbass because of his grades at Yale, and now that we found out that Kerry's grades were the same, you're all jumping all over each other trying to point out that "Grades don't measure intelligence". I know they don't. I was a C student in college too, but I started my own business, and am very succesful. But c'mon, a genius IQ, and an F average? That shit doesn't add up.
I think we call Bush a dumbass because he says stuff like this: "One of the great things about books is sometimes there are some fantastic pictures." and "It's in our country's interests to find those who would do harm to us and get them out of harm's way." one of my favorites: "You work three jobs? … Uniquely American, isn't it? I mean, that is fantastic that you're doing that." —George W. Bush, to a divorced mother of three, Omaha, Nebraska, Feb. 4, 2005 Not to mention alcohol and cocaine literally puts holes in your brain, and those are two substances Bush is quite familiar with. I wouldn't expect him to be in the same intelligence level as he was during college after years and years of alcoholism. Just look at the way he talks, he is like Ozzy without the accent.
Just a thought...Bush has an I.Q of 91. I don't know what Kerry's is, but Clinton has an I.Q of 182. If you do a search, you'll see that over the last several administrations, democrats have much higher I.Q's. Kennedy, and Carter both had I.Q's abouve 170 While Nixon was (i think) 155. That being the highest for a republican in over 50 years. By the way. Bush sr. scored a whopping 92. I will agree though. Kerry would ave marred the statistics for the dem's
Sure. I'll give you info, pictures, and everything: http://www.brainplace.com/bp/atlas/ch15.php And a smaller about.com article: http://chemistry.about.com/b/a/048305.htm More about alcohol and brain damage: http://alcoholism.about.com/cs/brain/a/aa000425.htm http://www.niaaa.nih.gov/publications/aa63/aa63.htm
ok. but do you really think george bush has been abusing alcohol and cocaine on a daily basis for more than a few years? come on now
Bush drank heavily for over 20 years. He has admittedly drank heavily since his teen years until he was 40.
so has my dad and hes a pretty smart man. u.s. attorney. so has my grandpa, still drinks pretty heavily and hes in his late 60s. what are you gettin at? i know plenty of older people that have been drinkin good for 40 plus years and theyre some of the smartest people i know.
Ted kennedy was an alcoholic and he is a SR senator from MASS. He also has had a woman drown in the backseat of his car he wrecked, while drunk, and didnt even help her. Howard Dean admited to beaing an alcoholic in his younger years to. why dont you guys talk about them instead of just focusing on republicans?
probably because those two don't hold what is supposed to be the most powerful position in the government.
