Keller, Larry & Jenny sold out The NorVa, last night. First time Keller has done that since he started playing there in 2001... first time The Keels had played The NorVa. The last shows that sold out while I was there were Bob Dylan and (... that was two or three years ago), then BB King, a year later. But to be honest, I really do think I would rather be at a Keller show in Virginia than Bob Dylan/BB King anywhere in the world, just because I've always liked to support local musicians... that and he did new material from the album coming out on the 6th (Dream). I thought about driving up to Baltimore today and seeing them again... as the only other time I've seen him play with Larry is at the (now defunct?) Haymaker Bluegrass Fest, in Fredericksburg, VA. They've known each other since they were kids. And... Scott is the shit. He sells the merchandise like no other. But it sucks because this dude standing next to me was looking for bud the whole show, then we found some. He started rolling a J and right when he finished rolling it, he dropped it, so we were looking with our cell phones, all over the dance floor. Never found it... so someone probably kicked it/stepped on it or found it before he did. Felt bad for the dude because he had paid a convienience charge to some guy, for it. Other than that, it was mostly positive vibes that were on the edge because nobody had any room to walk anywhere in that building, but we all put up with it because, well, it's Keller... and that's just how we feel about him in VA. You could really feel people about to snap, sometimes, but you could tell they were just holding their breath because the amount of people in there was just ridiculous. http://www.myspace.com/larrykeel http://www.myspace.com/kellerwilliams What was the last concert you saw?
I saw cky concert at the NorVa last year but got thrown out cause i was crowed surfing. It was there second to last song so it was ok. The last concert i saw was tool and right before that it was Roger Waters.
I was thinking about Keller Williams while I was printing in the darkroom the other day. Nothing in specific, really...just thought I'd throw that out there haha
Man, I actually managed to become drunk in the ticket line of the norva. And then I had someone offer me syd... haha, but I didn't want it after what happened after Phish at Hampton '04. Accidentally ingesting God knows how much liquid and having the cops raid the lot and arrest a few hundred people makes for complete and utter insanity.
iv never actually heard keller williams. who does he sound like? im gonna have to check them out i think
utube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_X39XQDQ2A (no, that is not keller... but it is funny to me and related to the keller, but alas, here is the keller and there is more below http://youtube.com/watch?v=QHDupqwy-nA ) AHahahahahahahahahhshashsahhwaefhweahesfhsdh................!!!!!!! Shit... this is too much. I was there at Deer Creek back in 1995 I think it was June maybe July But Jerry was still alive All the kids in that parking lot They tore that fence down And I blamed them For the second show getting cancelled. I really wanted to go I saved up all of my dough I didn't go to any other shows And I got my tickets M.O.ed And I never missed a Deer Creek show From '89 to '95 I was happy just to be alive On my yearly Indiana vacation But that was cut short by a bunch of jealous, party bashin', buzz thrashin', gate crashin', stinky bastards And if you're one of them And you hear this song Fuck you You cock sucking motherfucker Fuck You You cock sucking motherfucker Fuck You!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHWAzDfZr78 (Play this... music video from new album) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfvpZrPkn-s (juggler part 1) http://youtube.com/watch?v=jofmV7LrhpA (juggler part 2)
Yeah... I started a lighter party over in the front right corner of the theatre during that song. I've always absolutely lovedddd how everyone flips the bird and sings that song at the top of their lungs. And how all the old folks in the VIP section are like "???"
i really want to hear more keller williams. i need to get crackin on that. i dont remember my last show, i think it was primus. im going to see of montreal in a few hours
I don't get the indie thing, sometimes. It's like the music wants to be psychedelic, yet not all the way there, but the music doesn't want to be emo or involved with emo things, so they just decide to live in a sickening, but beautiful, limbo gumbo of moonshine drunken independence and wailing french-acadian instruments (some instruments sans French-Acadiana) of monotony...
To each's own i guess, i've never really did get jam bands ... (There is no offence meant to anybody, this is just my plain opinion by the way ... )
Actually, that was my positive, but cynical description. I like indie. I just don't get it sometimes. I don't get jam bands either, but I'm a part of the music there and I understand the energy... which can only really be felt live.
its not if you get it or not, its how it makes you feel there are soooooo many songs i dont get, but they just sound good. and the ones i dont get at the start, after listening to them long enough i start to understand them and love them even more. Of montreal was amazing live. not the type of show i expected, but wonderful all in the same. i think their bringing back the glam rock look of the seventies. Kevin got mostly naked during some parts of the show, then wore a dress for awhile. and then some other shit happened. it was a good time
thats why people go to shows man, its something you can only get from jam shows (atleast from my experience)
