o.k. where to start? basics i guess.. i'm holly really, not nerthus. i'm 18 in less than a month, studying english lit history and french at college. aren't i exciting? i like music of all types pretty much (i'm listening to asian dub foundation now), parties, languages, history (especially revolution and stuff), hugs, people, the sea, literature and vikings! i'm gonna do something like viking studies at university. probably not very practical but it's going to be awesome so i don't care. - i'm a bit hungover. - i want my dreads to stop being so damn fluffy. - i'm a grammar and spelling freak. i know when i say that people will start checking all of my grammar, punctuation and spelling for mistakes.well i would. - i've recently discovered a love for good poetry. not writing it because i'm pretty shit at that. poetry does something prose can never quite, i'm not sure what that is though. any questions? i have one: how is everyone this winter? missing summer yet? happy winter solstice everyone! i believe it's at 6am tomorrow in england, unless my calculations are off.
there's a nice one at kilve near where i live where you can find loads of fossils, that's always fun! also when me and my friends went to combe martin camping for a bit there was this great little cove and to get to it you had to walk up loads of winding lanes, through mud, then down a massive cliffside on very dodgy steps. worth it when we got there though. so much to explore and climb, it was like being in some weird country. the sea rocks i can see it from my window too which is nice.
Hello nert If you could steal any one of the following things from Noel Edmonds, which would it be and why? a) his vivacious and likeable personality b) his neatly trimmed beard c) his legs
Yeah, some of the best years of my life so far, I think. It's definitely different to the usual university experience. It's not exactly top of the list of party universities, but you can still have fun and there's plenty of social life to be had with or without the Ra Ra types - you'll definitely get that at King's. Try to make friends with townies though, that's where it's at, especially when it comes to Strawberry Fair and the raves they have around the area....
nert? i like it. hi lit i'd go for b, his neatly trimmed beard. i've always wanted a beard, being female has been the bane of my life! i'd quite like four legs though too. hmm.. tricky one. how about you? you seem to have an unhealthy obsession with noel edmonds. a fetish, if you will. and peace-pheonix: cheers that's good to know! friends outside of the uni sounds like a good plan.. i don't know if i have an offer yet though, so i'm going to try and not dwell on it too much.
not sure, had two and one was alright. the department one wasn't great. UCL went better so i'm not too bothered about it... would be nice to get an offer from Cambridge though! what were you studying?
oh cool! could possibly have guessed... my friend is applying for that too. looks like an interesting degree. so are there many fellow lefties at cambridge? i'm a bit worried about being on my own politically there (lets suppose i got in)
I was quite strongly involved in left wing politics there. One of the best friends I made there is an ardent communist. We helped set up a Hands Off Venezuela group, which is going from strength to strength now I think and the Anti-Arms Trade campaign is very strong there given the need to pressure the colleges to stop investing in arms companies. A Little Less Conversation, A Little More Action is a group dedicated to helping get left-wing students elected to student union positions. More widely about town, you'll find CamPeace, Stop the War, Green and Respect groups. Despite the image and the significant numbers of public school Tory boys, Cambridge, though by no means a hot-bed of revolution, has plenty for lefties and environmentalists to involve themselves with. And you definitely picked the right college, as King's has by far the highest number of leftists there....
Hi.. welcome to the forums etc etc how long is your hair in centimetres (or inches if you prefer)? did you make the pic in your sig? (tis very good) do you have nail polish on? what do you think of measuring ones nose? have a nice day xxxxxxxx
excellent! im glad hands off venezuela are there, i've wanted to get involved with that for ages but everything's a bit sucky down here for political groups. or even politically motivated people at all, apart from the common tory farm owner bitching about the hunting ban... yay, feeling a bit more enthusiastic about it now. i know there are currently no members of the socialist party of england and wales there, and there are a lot at oxford so i was a bit worried that cambridge was lacking in left wingers in general. silly really. hello music luvver - my hair varies in length for some strange reason. the shortest dreads are around 7-8 inches, and the longest are probably close to double that. is that accurate enough for you? - i did make it yeah thanks. i dropped art after AS n hadn't done any for ages so i thought i'd paint a picture last week. badly composed and horrible colours if you ask me... - no i don't, if i did it would just be clear though. nail varnish doesn't really suit me. - i have no problems with measuring one's nose. i do, however, have a problem with measuring other people's noses. i'm not sure why, you could probably trace it back to my childhood... how's that? any more questions?
Im in a political Group. It is called P.I.G.S (i have a love of pigs and my friend came up with it) would you like to join? it stands for Political Idiots Get Saucy do you love marmite or hate it? Do you know how the name for marmite came about? if not it was when mayionaise and marmalade had a massive fight (marmalade "borrowed" maionaise's hat without asking) and then they ended up both falling into a jar and so the person there at the time called it Marmaionaise but that wasnt very catchy so they changed it. The End. How many senses do you have? Do you think they above question is a trick question? Well it is.
