So I've been vegetarian for almost 7 years now, however I just went vegan the beginning of this week. I loveee mexican food which is pretty easy to do without dairy, just subtract the cheese and sour cream or I have seen some vegan cheese and sour cream. But I was just wondering if anyone had any good vegan recipes? I want to experiment with some different foods that I'm not used to cooking with and get into the vegan spirit. :daisy: I would appreciate any suggestions! Thanks! Peace and Love, Penelope.
I haven't been in the recipe section in a while, but we have a vegan section. theppk.com is a site associated with VWAV, Veganomicon, etc. good forums, but the real secret is to blog stalk people. I like Moskowitz's appetite for reduction as well. For Mexican, look to costal forms which use cheese far less, and it is usually simple to swap say, avocado for cheese.
I personally think the best site for Vegan recipes on the web is Happy Cow; happycow.net It's got all the amazing basics from pancakes to noodles to bread to homemade tofu sausage. As well as international dishes of every variety and stripe. Plus - all the sweets and goodies you can imagine - YUM! Enjoy -
Check out TheTofuGuru on Youtube, especially the tamales! She`s absolutely amazing, her recipes have come in a lot of use to me over the years. :2thumbsup:
One Coconut- Freshly Grated Half Litre Milk Sugar- 4 to 6 Tsp Cardamom Powder Crushed Almonds, Pistachio etc- Just for decoration and added flavours Boil Milk, grated coconut and sugar in pan. Stir occasionally till it starts getting solid. Add Cardamom powder and crushed dry fruits. Mix Well. Take this off the stove, transfer in a dish and spread. (Like Pizza) Let it cool a bit and then cut into rectangular pieces. After an hour or so, you can take out these dried cakes and put them in Jar. It’s a good sweet dish. (You can keep in fridge for a week’s time at least)
I love vegan fajitas! Also, pasta with tomato+vegetables sauce. Something very easy and delicious is just blending fruits, mmm fruit smoothies
