I hope the pay attention and I urge everyone to send letters to the representatives.

    Dear Mr. Congressman

    My name is Steven ******

I doubt that you are actually going to read this email, but just in case you do, I would like to tell you how Marijuana has helped me.

In 2002 I was Diagnosed O.D.D. (oppositional defiance disorder). I was on a number of prescription drugs that did nothing but turn me into a zombie. Due to this lack of energy and what-not my grades in school dropped.

After my grades dropped I lost all hope of being able to graduate. I became very depressed and very aggressive towards my family. My mother had to call law enforcement on multiple occasions because I had gone out of control. The fact is I could not control myself.

After the 5th of 6th incident with the law I was invited over to a friends house. He offered to let me try marijuana, and I accepted. This is where my lifelong friendship to this plant began.

After I started smoking marijuana I noticed that I would get less agitated less frequently. In other words I was a lot calmer all the time.

Due to the deep thinking that I can do when I am "high" I came to realize that I had made a mistake about dropping out of school. After I realized this I immediately starting looking into home-schooling and adult high-school programs.

I am currently enrolled in Citizens High School and I hold a full time job to help pay the bills in the house that I stay in.

Did you know that by fully decriminalizing marijuana possession the state of North Carolina could save millions upon millions of dollars each year. That money could go to programs to keep children from dropping out of school and making the same mistake I did.

All I ask of you is to bring this issue to who ever it takes to get the ball rolling. By doing this you could change a number of peoples lives.

Thank you for your time and I hope to see something happen about this issue in the near future!

    Sincerely,
    Steven ******

right on man, I've been preparing such a letter for a while, though i'd really like to give a speech that starts off "I'd be dead without marijuana" and continues to say how it helps my depression and the perfect peace I hold with my own self

This is good, hopefully he will get this letter. If alot of people send these types of letters, we may make a difference in the long run. Say, how did you get your congressman's email address? I would like to make a letter as well.

I like your letter, it tells the congressman how you feel. The only thing is though, I'd advise against saying "lifelong relationship with this plant." From talking with congress-peoples in Tallahassee and other political faces around here (it's Florida's capital) they tell me that the best way to talk about marijuana is to NEVER mention my "love for the herb" or talk about "mind expansion" and other "hippie-crap" because "they just don't wanna hear your gospel."

While I agree that it's an important part of pot (the spiritual connection and such) they are true when they say politicians just don't give a damn to hear that. The last thing they want to think is that by passing this bill, they'll be creating "hippies."

Overall though, your letter is really good and I like when people take the time to write a personal letter rather than to just submit the pre-made.

    peace

    John
