I've been prescribed Ativan for severe anxiety and panic attacks. I hate it. I understand you are supposed to feel sedated, but my dose is .5 to 1mg. .5 does absolutely nothing and 1mg does help my heart calm a bit towards the end but nothing fantastic. And then for the following 2 hours i feel like a blank slate. Not sedated, just blank. I hate that. Is this the way they are supposed to be? I have done a little research and i think i would do better on something like diazepam...or similar. How do i ask my doctor to change my med, without sounding like a weirdo :). I'm new at all this...thank you for any help or advice!

Ativan is barely noticeable ,, if you are pissed off and having an anxiety attack, they usually work..

say doc this benzo dont work.. give me something better. like xanax.

Diazepam is not commonly prescribed for anxiety... and the idea is that you could feel better not doped... anyway talk to your shrink.
