uhh I dont know why people hype up that album so much... it has its moments.. lucy in the sky is probably one of the better songs on there, other than a day in the life and within you, without you...... I think the album would have been much better if they added strawberry fields and penny lane to the album, and took off a couple songs like shes leaving home and umm fixing a hole, or when Im 64
Interesting note: Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields were originally intended for inclusion on the project that eventually became Sgt. Pepper... however their record company released it as a single instead, so neither were included on the album. John Lennon was doing too much acid at the time, so Paul took Lucy In The Sky, and added all the weird sounds and such so it would fit into his `concept album` idea. Fool On The Hill would have probably fit well into the original concept album idea... which was about their childhoods in England... but being that it`s so melancholy, as is its sentiment too closely resembles that of She`s Leaving Home, and so its inclusion would seem to go against the idea behind what is now Sgt. Pepper`s. Sgt. Pepper`s is a diverse, playful and magical album that challenges pop to embrace as many influences as it can. Though it works as a whole, none of the songs are all that similar in their subject matter... which is a big part of what makes both its conceptual and sonic unity so amazing.
I agree that it'd be much better with Penny Lane and Strawberru Fields, but I think She's leaving home is one of the best songs on the album. But it is a quite overhyped album. I like Abbey Road much more.
its not over hyped......the album fulfills the hype.....but they have better albums..my favorite is RUBBER SOUL
the album is great as is. Take it for what it is, a great album. Rubber Soul is another good one, they both are cool...
yes it's true...but if everybody stole the song of The Magical Mystery Tour how can we had a decent Magical Mystery Project ! Someone said to Join "Penny Lane" and "Strawberry Field Forever" i agree but we can join another song as "Northern Song" by Harrisson and eject "Good Morning"...
burn a copy with this switch, problem solved anyhow madcrappie hit the nail on the head, although I'd drop With a little Help and When I'm 64
Yeah, and the White Album should've been cut down to a single LP... Instead of a double-album. :H So says George Martin and Ringo anyway...
it's right ...but the second half...mentaly i see you knockin' at the door of Ringo to ask him when the second part will be released! :H
In my opinion, I'd 'let it be'(haha, cheap joke). I know the songs on Sgt Pepper don't seem to go together at first glance, but that's what makes the album so great. It was eclectic, new, and fresh, and inspired many albums to come.
hidden door is right; nothing's stopping you from ripping the tracks from your cds and then making a copy arranged the way you like. I like the idea of a slimmed-down white album; I'm sure I could easily fit what I like on one 80 minute cd (heck, it would probably fit on one cd once you tossed out 'revolution #9').
