I just got my tips blunted. Due to the amount of the dread that was undreaded at the tip (about 1- 1.5 inches) I lost about that much in length. It was totally worth it. I just woke up from a massive pass out nap in a very weird position and my hair is still round and everything is great. Before when I woke up after a deep slumber my hair was all flat and messed up looking but now they look magnificent. I definitely will have to go through a weird stage of shorter hair because before my dreads were right at my shoulders and now they are at the end of my neck. It just seems that by doing this it has resulted in a lot less maintenance since. Palm rolling is a lot less necessary and loose hairs at the tip is far less. I just wanted to post this to let all you know who don't condone forced blunted tips that I helped tremendously and overall it prevented future maintenance. Please tell me if you have had the same results if you have done this or if you noticed less maintenance when your tips blunted.

Surprised you didn't post a pic. But yeh, whatever floats your boat. If you like it then nice.

How are you going to handle any loops that come your way?

how old are your locks again? if they are young what will probably happen is that they won stay blunt but it may help the tips mat up more. at least that's what happened to me. i just crocheted my tips hoping the bluntness will go away like last time and leave more matted tips.

My locks are only about 2 weeks old. I had them crocheted on to blunt them. However, the lady that did my dreads was beautiful and her dreads were about 2 years old. She had tips that looks perfect but they were blunted and somewhat not but they were all hard at the end. Anyway I know that the blunted tips won't stay perfectly blunt but at least I can feel how much more hard the tips are now and they feel more together. Stay posted and I will get a picture of a before and after when I can find some good light outside. The last couple of days here in Florida it has been raining outside so hard that it is flooding all over the place and the wind is like the hurricanes that come through. I like this weather though because we have hurricane parties. This time it is just a tropical depression but it is still fun to see how crazy outside.

They are tight both literally and as in sweet. They are so much tighter than before. I can't wait until I have given them a couple of months. Not only does my hair grow faster in the summer but I live right next to the ocean so I can go there a lot.

What are you talking about? If you are talking about the comment about them being very tight I don't care. If people want to be rude then let them be rude. I am just going to respond as if they were serious.

I know their not tight but they are tighter than before I got the tips rounded off. She crocheted them to tighten them too. I understand that they aren't tight but what I don't understand is why people feel compelled to comment like this. It is obvious that I don't actually think they are locked.

I wasn't trying to rush anything. When I blunted to tips it just made them look nicer until they have time to mature. I eventually want them to be blunted anyway so why not start now and let them get used to being blunted. When I said that they were tight I meant the tips not the whole dread. And by tight I didn't mean mature. I meant that they were compact and neater than before. I personally like more maintained dreads better than crazy dreads. I am not going to go crazy over it but I prefer to have presentable looking dreads. It's hard enough to get a job as is without having dreads. Down here in north florida people don't like change and if you get dreads especially as a white person they automatically think you want to be black. They don't think of is as a lifestyle and more of like a hippie-like aspect. Their are major racists down here and if I didn't maintain my dreads I could never get a job.
