Just spent 4 nights in the most kick ass city in the world. I recommend the following places, and we visited most of the major coffeeshops and some smaller less popular ones as well.

Grey Area - C-13 Hawaiian and Grey Mist on top (ultimate combo, best I have ever smoked) The place is tiny though.
I'd say the best quality stuff in the city, more pricey too but worth it.

Dampking - NYC Diesel was superb, vey uplifting and happy high for long time. Cool pictures of Ocean's 12 scenes and they were playing the movies part on plasma.

Baba - GET THE HASH BROWNIES! They taste awesome and hit you an hour later, very fun and strong. Jack Herrier was good there too. Cool environment and good coffee as well.

Now I am just trying to figure out how I can go back again soon.

Glad to hear that you had fun. I am going next month and can't wait. Did you happen to hit up Barney's?

You should have gone to The Doors cafe that would have been cheaper. The Dampkring is cool, but it over-charges and not by a little. But hey, it's good that you enjoyed yourself right?

If you are standing in front of the central station and you have the door in your back, walk on to the first crossing and when crossed go right. Keep walking until you reach a street through which the tram rides. When there cross it and still go straight on. The next street is the one you want. Go left, to your right is now a bridge cross it and you will see The Doors cafe. Don't worry it is a coffee shop.
It has good music and is less expensive than most others that are more central.
The Doors cafe isn't that big, but it is very nice.

    And you say this because?

I didn't really find anything wrong with the weed they sold when I was there.
Anyway if you buy a drink they won't mind if you don't smoke their weed. And you can smoke some other weed. However I got stoned just fine. No headach or anything. If you mean they don't have a lot to choose from, well remember having to pick one so they have at least a few options. And it doesn't really matter that much weither they have 8 or 18 different types of weed or hash, not to me anyway.

because i visited over 40 coffeeshops less than 3 weeks ago and purchased things at about 35 of them. the two doors coffeeshops were 2 of the 5 i passed on because they had generic weed that wasn't worth it. I'd rather spend 9 euro's on an excellent gram then spend 7 euros on a mediocre one......

I didn't go to Barney's but we went to Rockerij, Grasshopper and Greenhouse Centrum to name a few and nothing on their menus impressed me really, seemed like medicore product to me after going to Grey Area and Dampking. I did like Blues Brothers Cafe, wide selection and they let you smell all the items as well but they had mostly only indicas and I prefer sativas. I wish I would have gone to Tweede Kamer to check it out...oh well maybe next time.

I don't know what you mean by two doors coffeeshop.

I have been to The Doors cafe many times over the years and it has never let me down. I am guessing you aren't Dutch because if you paid 9 euro's then that tell's me you don't know the realistic Dutch prices. 9 Euro's for a gram means you were seriously fucked man. In any other city than Amsterdam you would get 1.5 grams for 6 Euro's and 3.5 grams for 12 Euro's, and don't tell me that the weed is shit when it is cheap because it's not. It isn't even cheap, it is just the prices. Those hipster coffeeshops are expensive.

The Doors cafe is the only one I remember the name of because I go there when I'm in Amsterdam, but there are others that are less expensive. Just look on the canals, not in the centre.

There are 2 Doors locations. The Doors Palace and the smaller Doors coffee shop on the Singel near Central Station. Compared to to other coffeshops the Doors Blows when it comes to quality gear.(my own opinion) But I have had some great times at the smaller location. It was actually the 1st coffee shop I ever went to.

That being said, I think Koopa has some of the best infomation on this board. His knowledge of the shops and their gear is unparalled. It should not matter whether he is Dutch or not! I think you should just try some of his suggestions and then see for yourself what I am talking about.

Oh I don't doubt he is dope to infinite. I just know that if you pay 9 Euro's for 1 gram you are over paying by a mile. I haven't been to the greenhouse or De dampkring for a long time, and I won't because I don't like it when I am overcharged for being in a hip place.

I just think that some places have a superior product on their menu and the Doors is not one of those places. I also believe that places like de damring and the Grey Area are a bit more expensive. But their reputations and gear make up for the slight upcharge.

    again.....

9 euro a g for the best smoke i found this year is a better deal then paying 7 euros per g for garbage.

cheaper prices in the city are found on the outskirts ie marnixstraat area but if you want the best deals with good quality try the willy wortals shops in haarlem. 6-7 euro per g for bud that is totally dry and cured.......

thanks for the kind words people :)

Well if you insist on paying too much go right ahead.

I guess it also depends on what you think is good weed. Me I like it a good natural weed. I want to get a good mellow high. Those major shops all push their weed to grow fast and get the THC way up. It will get you real stoned, but it won't get you high. Quite often at the end of the day they will leave you with a great fucking headache. That is just not my thing. I want real weed not the commercial weed that is way over priced and manipulated.

To each his own of course. But even that weed you like is cheaper in most parts of the country. Like I said 3.5 grams for 12 Euro's is normal for any shop or type of weed.

we have different views on value........you think you are "saving 2 euro's" and I think you are "wasting 6 or 7" period.

Actually you are paying 31.50 Euro's for an amount of weed that I have for 12 Euro's. You may think you are getting a great deal here because the weed is really fab, I say you can get that same weed elsewhere. Now I don't like the weed you seem to prefer. But that is all about taste I reckon. What remains is you could have saved 19.50 Euro's and have the same quality of weed.

But don't take my word for it, just visit Rotterdam for one day next time. There are lots of coffeeshops there with different types of weed. The one thing they all have in common is the price. You can twist it round anyway you like, but Amsterdam is a tourist attraction. They over price as a rule, tourists will pay it anyway.

this is an amsterdam board and they were amsterdam recommendations. I've been to rotterdam, haarlem, beverwijk, etc. thank you very much.
so congratulations for comparing apples to oranges and finding that they differ!

look man you made a terrible recommendation, i said "no offense" and called you on your terrible recommendation......

so why don't you just NOT TAKE OFFENSE rather than try to discredit the person who pointed out what a terrible recommendation you made.

as for my recommendations not being your "kind" I wonder how many of my exact recommendations you have tried in the past 6 months???? I tried your recommendation before I criticized it.

    Care to answer that one?

    more like pathetic........

Up till this point I've been overly diplomatic throughout this thread despite some rather rude assumptions and accusations made by this dude.

information exchange should be done to benefit all the people involved, not to become an ego issue. There is no reason for this dude to give me crap just because he gave terrible advice.

lets leave the egofest behind and focus on the exchange of good information.

So true. Can't wait to try out some of your recomendations. By the way, have you tried the Barney Rubble Hash at Barney's recently?
