Forget the US government shutdown saga...

David Cameron believes wrapping up warm is way to beat rising energy bills

David Cameron faced ridicule today after the Prime Minister's spokesman suggested wrapping up as a way to keep warm.

Above-inflation price hikes from British Gas and SSE have prompted outrage from thousands of cash-strapped consumers.

And today a No 10 spokesman was asked whether Mr Cameron agreed that people could reduce their fuel bill by wrapping up warm.

Following the gaffe, the hashtag #cameronheatingtips began trending on Twitter with many poking fun at the Prime Minister's advice.

One wrote: "You are only cold because of your lack of aspiration. And it's the last Labour government's fault as ever. Duh."

Another tweeted: "Standing near a Tory? warm yourself on the hot air coming out of their mouth."

Labour leader Ed Miliband said: "Their crime policy used to be 'hug a hoodie'. Now their energy policy appears to be 'wear a hoodie'.

Do you wear a jumper in your home in the winter to save money on heating?

He didn't actually say it (see link above)

Obviously it's supposed to imply he is out of touch...

If he did actually say it, it is a good idea (he isn't allowed any of them) - and I'm sure older people generally would slip on a jumper...
    I do...
I never turn my heating on...
I don't know what all the heating bill fuss is about...

well there's nothing WRONG with wrapping up warm
and there's nothing wrong with setting the heating thermostat lower

but saying (or implying) so as a way of dodging real issues, is saying (or implying) so as a way of dodging real issues.

All the British people should just move down here to Texas. There are lots of jobs too.

    Problem solved.

Cameron will have us breaking up our wooden furniture and starting fires in the middle of our living rooms by the time he's finished...That's for those lucky enough to have living rooms...The tories are demonising the working class, screwing the middle class, and sucking the cock's of the upper class. No one will vote for Miliband because he's too small, narcy, pernickety and comes across as ineffectual.I foresee a Labour/Lib-dem coalition at best.Fight for your minds.

I don't know why I write this crap.I don't know what I'm talking about.Start knitting those jumpers.Personally,I am reluctant to turn up the heating and generally just wrap up.But that's not politically motivated just me.I'm a zenarchist wtf?

I've got nothing against small people.Smaller guys can be hard as fuck. It's just that Miliband is a bit of a wimp.Compared to the Russian fella, for example.I know these things shouldn't matter, but unfortunately I think they do in the mind of the public.I can't see people "believing" in him somehow.Maybe I should just come out as completely apolitical when it comes to party politics, because it seems like the wrong people go into it for the wrong reasons.Maybe they do all "care",but the brightest minds don't go into politics, for various reasons,so we're left with this shower.

Although I do understand what you are saying I do wear a sweater around inside in the winter. My heat is included in my rent so it is not about saving me money but I don't believe in wasting energy.

My landlord stopped including it in the rent when I moved in :( :p But we do have 'green' energy now, and it costs less than our previous energy provider!
