    “Danger knows full well
That Caesar is more dangerous than he.”

From the play Julius Caesar. I always found this quote ironic. I was thinking about it about 20 years ago driving home late at night. I was in a bad part of town, and I saw a young man walking by himself. And I thought of that quote and how it shows that courage can still be a strength in our culture.

It is also ironic that Caesar is the one who said it in the play. Because Caesar was known for his soft heart, unusual at the time. Like Mark Anthony says later on in the play “When that the poor have cried, Caesar hath wept”. Because he often showed mercy even to his enemies. Like in one story about how he treated the people who held him captive once.
