holy crap, i just found something out. one of my friend's named after Ian Curtis. his name's Ian Curtis Webb. i
Very bold statement, but I'm gonna have to completely disagree with you. Now the most depressing band in the past thirty years? Probably. "Isolation" is instant depression. Dispels any mystery as to why its writer committed suicide.
After Curtis's unfortunate depature from this world they got a new singer and renamed themselves New Order and I prefer the New Order stuff to the old Joy Division stuff.
Anyone here seen 24-hour Party People? There's some great insight in the movie into the creation of Joy Division and Ian Curtis' death. It's a pretty good movie. Just know that the movie's not all about Joy Division and New Order. After about an hour it skips to the creation of the Happy Mondays, a band far removed from Joy Division.
"Atmosphere" is great so is "transmission" and "love will tear us apart". joy division were one of the greatest bands to emerge from the late 70s.i saw new order live a couple years ago they cover their songs pretty well. well some of the guys in new order were members of joy division so i guess its there songs without ian curtis.
24 Hour Party People is a great flick, I have the soundtrack to which is class. It does also document the Happy Mondays who were a fucking quality band.
Of all places, you can find Moby's version of New Dawn Fades on the "Heat" soundtrack. As for the Happy Mondays and 24-Hour Party People, I have to agree with Spacer that they were quality, especially on Pills, Thrills and Bellyaches.
