To be free or not to be,
To live life, or to just dream of such things

    Often I see myself conformed,
    A marionette, invisible strings
These ways surely of the family in which I was born,
From birth they were my destiny

All I see around me, is nothing at all
true religions and a shiny necklace couldn’t numb the pain from the truth

All of these days I’ve spent blindfolded, lost if you will
as my flesh rots my soul grows, its my conscience I seek to heal

mask the pain my mind endures,
symptoms of the young at mind
go to college and get a job, the common cure
everything else is a waste of time

Oh how I adore the tranquility of silence,
An untapped mind does its work there, quietly defiant

Often they tell us X marks the spot, the truth is, that isn’t true
You don’t need a map or a GPS to find the real treasure, all you have to find is you

    peace, tigerpaw

"as my flesh rots my soul grows, its my conscience I seek to heal"
Like I said before, favorite lines in the poem.
But the whole thing has a great and truthful energy around it.
    Great words. :)

Just pure truth right there. Very insightful and well constructed. Surprisingly good form for free verse as well! I like that it has the same natural flow as prose, but simultaneously has enough form and rhythm to shine with the beauty of good poetry. It strikes a perfect balance.

Thanks! Sometimes people like that style sometimes people don't, I'm glad you enjoyed!

    Peace, Tigerpaw
