I was wondering how many people here make their own journals/books? I want to make my own journal for 2008 and posted in another forum I belong to and haven't had much response... Here's my idea... I was going to take 3 or 4 paper bags and cut off the tops, bottoms, and one side, and glue them together so that it's one long paper bag trail...I want to make pockets, which is why I'm only cutting one side off and fold it accordion style. Then, I was going to use manilla folders as the actual sections...I have a lot of sections planned out to make and I want to decorate it really nice, so it's like a visual journal. I also want to make calendars for each month with plans, holidays, etc...which I was gunna sew into it along with other random things sewn in. I just want it to be random and fun...something to look back on in 30 years. What do you guys think?
That sounds lovely; how is it turning out? I made something like this as a wedding present for a Wiccan couple years ago; I took an old binder, covered it with green velvet, and then made watercolor images for each of the Wiccan Sabbats. I also put plastic inserts in, so it could be used as a photo album. It looked really pretty; I finished it the day of the wedding, though, and was kind of rushed, so I hope it didn't fall apart. :OP I love your calendar idea, too; imagine what an awesome thing that would be for future generations to find!
It's coming out good! The only problem I'm having is the paper bags bubble with the paint. I'll work through it though! That book sounds awesome too! I like the photo album idea-kind of like a creative album where they could make their own creative memories!
This sounds like a beautiful journal. Both of them! I really hope your journal turns out well, and I hope you put some pictures of it on here once you finish it!
