this is a very underrated album! In my opinion, its Bob's 2nd best, after Blood on the Tracks... I've read some pretty harsh reviews for this great record... what do you think?

naww, I would say its probably around the 5th or 6th best..... nothing can beat bringin it all back home or blonde on blonde...... even highway 61 revisited...

    I would go

    bringin it all back home
    blonde on blonde
    highway 61
    blood on the tracks
    john wesley harding

It's a fucking great album. In Blonde on Blonde he got lazy with his lyrics, but in John Westley Harding he bounces back and is terrific. Aw, i love it:D

eh, I've started to not like much of Blonde on Blonde at all... I don't like that whole country-rock fusion thing he did with the pianos and Robbie Robertson. :p

    imo..
    Blood on the Tracks
    John Wesley Harding
    The Freewheelin'
    Nashville Skyline
    Bringing It All Back Home
    Highway 61 Revisited
    New Morning
    Another Side of
    Love & Theft
    Desire
    Bob Dylan
    Blonde on Blonde
    Planet Waves
    The Times They Are A-Changin'

    etc etc...

and no, I am not crazy. :H

I love John Wesley Harding. It's my second favourite Dylan album, after Blood on the Tracks (the best album of all time?). Despite it's simplicity and quietness, it's an amazing album. Definitely the most ignored and underrated album in his catalogue.

I reckon bringin it all back home is his best album, followed by John westley harding then blood on the tracks.

yeah JWH is an all-time great album no doubt.

but Dylan has done so many better albums. my personal fav is bringing it all back home, and JWH would probably be around my 10th or so Dylan fav.

best songs on JWH: All Along the Watchtower, I'll Be Your Baby Tonight, The Ballad of Frankie Lee and Judas Priest and Down Along the Cove (in that order)

I dunno why, but Bringing it All Back Home has always been my least favourite Dylan album.

Personally, I differentiate between best album and favourite album, dont know if i'm on my own there?!

JWH is a superb album, but if you ask anyone who isn't specifically a Dylan fan, the albums they have heard of (not necessarily heard) would be B.O.B and Highway 61 and probably BIABH.

JWH is defo in the top 5 either way, although in terms of an album that I can put on regularly and never tire of listening too then Another Side & HW61 although the others that I play regularly (at least once an week each!) are BOTT & Freewheelin

I can thank my dad for that!!

While we're on the subject I have just obtained the original vinyl LP of 'Freewheelin' from my dad (and an original Cheech & Chong disc too!)

This is as my dad bought a massive box of LP's a few years back from a garage sale. He paid £9 which is what, about $18 dollars for the entire box!!

To give you an idea it had like 10 Dylan albums alone including BIABH, Freewheelin, BOB, HW61 etc. Plus loads of original Hendrix,Led Zep, Jefferson Airplane, Skynrd, Jethro Tull etc etc. In all there were about 150 Lp's!

I spend my entire life harassing my dad in an effort for him to give me more & more of his LP's (mainly Dylan!) but he obviously wants them too, but he hasn't yet displayed them or put them near his deck, they're still all hidden away upstairs in the spare room!! Travesty or what!

I've framed Freewheelin for now cos it looks awesome with the full size album cover and that is probably my favourite Dylan album cover, not sure why its just a cool photo with the body language and the VW camper in the background. I'll take it doen and play it in the future when I get a decent record deck.
