I hadn't really listened to The Beatles for a long time, but I recently have heard and gotten in to some of John's solo stuff. My favorite sonsg by him are Working Class Hero, God, and the song where he sings "I don't want to fake it, well I can see the promised land, and I know I can make it". I can even say I like John's solo stuff more than The Beatles. Any other John fans on this archive?

Anyway what's the song called about "I don't want to fake it"?

Oh, I forgot, I also like Mind Games, and Power To The People.

It was alright, but I wasn't too impressed by John's solo work. It was just kinda.....blah....to me.

That being said, I did really like Jealous Guy and Working Class Hero.

I LOVE George's solo work and really like Paul's. John's is okay, but just never really impressed me.

OMG, really? I think John had it going on in his solo years!!!!

My favorites from solo-John are 'Love', 'Out the Blue' 'Oh My Love', 'Gimme Some Truth', 'Nobody Loves You When You're Down And Out', 'Scared', '#9 Dream', and 'Grow Old With Me'.

'Love' and 'Grow Old With Me' are a couple of the few songs that move me to tears, they are so beautiful.

shit, i cant choose.... john, paul, and george all had equal solo careers, in that their music was flippin' perfect and couldnt really be better than eachothers'.

kind of like the beatles, except solo they released some crap, which was pretty much inevitable anyway.

I am a big fan of his solo stuff... I love Watching The Wheels and Cold Turkey. He was an incredible musician and I don't think he lost any of it in his latter days.

I love John's solo career as well as George's. I'm not that fond of Paul's commercial pop. Yeah he did some decent stuff but overall nothing really impressing to me. George on the other hand I find far more interesting with All things must pass, Living in a material world, Cloud 9 and Brainwashed. And John's early solo years are great. Plastic Ono Band I looooove, same for Imagine. Sure he had his lost week-end but he came back strong with Double Fantasy. My personal favorites are Working class hero, God, Love, Look at me, Gimme some thruth, How, Instant Karma, Grow old with me, Just like starting over and Oh my love.

Mind Games is my favourite of John's solo music. :) And 'Whatever Gets You Through the Night' is a great dance song.

I saw this thread and i thought; I gotta point you all towards Working Class Hero! but you already did in the first post[IMG], good call!

i love that song! i'm not much of a beatles "fan" but i greatly apreciate there music.

Anyway Working Class Hero is such a powerfull song, that describes so well how i feel about things, it's sad but THAT'S life.

Any one know the version of David Bowie's Tin Machine?
That blew my mind, i actually discoverd that one before i found the original,
But check out this rocking version! Working class hero; the loud version +screaming guitar licks, just perfect, David Bowie can really pull this one off.

    Peace

    <3 John Lennon.

Mind Games is a cute song, I love it to pieces. Working Class Hero, is pretty much the best thing to ever happen to me....
and I could go on about music forever.

Lennon's solo stuff is about something. McCartney's solo stuff is about nothing.

At least McCartney's not a hypocrite.

And he does have songs that mean something.

John Lennon had by far the best and most revolutionary solo career from the beatles you know. McCartney was always so content on being a "superstar," and Harrison used up all of his swingin' tunes on All Things Must Pass, but John Lennon was so brutally honest and such a confessional songwriter you know. he even dabbled in everything from revolutionary politics to the television talk-show circuit, which i think is pretty far out. Lennon exploded the myth behind that cliche about singer/songwriters singing confessionals direct from their heart. not too many artist made records as harrowing, difficult, and rewarding as John Lennon did man.

Well, I actually think that John's solo songs are a lot different than his songs with Beatles. He could finally improve his personality (not that he wouldn't do that with the beatles) and he could work only by himself and Yoko ... I guess that Yoko's influence really put some good lyrics in his solo songs... so... I love The Beatles song as well as his solo songs.. but they're both really different... So I wouldn't judge anymore:p
