This is such a great band, they have a very unique, strange sound. They are the best known of Progressive Folk Rock.
Jethro Tull are from my most favourite band. From the first time when I heard them I fell in love with their music!
Me too! I have almost all of their cds, and quite a few of them on vynil, too. They're just amazing. Ian Anderson is a genius, and there is no other group that I know that managed to make a flute sound heavy! (granted, "heavy" means "heavy for their time" but it's still awesome!)
It's Weird To Think That When I Was Younger I Used To Hear "Ring Out, Soltice Bells" At Christmas And Now I Own Albums And Songs....It's Great....
they are really good but there songs all have the same vibe. they are original from other groups but withing themselves they are very similar. i still like them though
That would be so cool..to see Tull in Holland, cop a legal buzz and not have to worry about looking over your shoulder!
Thick as a Brick is sooo great. love that album. i got it on vinyl, but i burnt it to a cd too. I was trippin on shrooms once and couldnt figure out what i wanted to listen to, so i popped in thick as a brick. i was thinkin "mellow enough and i dont have to worry about changing it for about 45 minutes!
I love the record cover for thick as a brick, but I digress... Aqualung holds a special place in my heart.
Aqualung was a favourite of the love of my life. He introduced me to Tull, and knowing my love of words said to read the lyrics before playing the vinyl. Never got to the end of Acres Wild, just listened and was hooked forever. Our youngest daughter is a natural musician, and Ian Anderson has had a great influence on her, she sees him as a mentor. Her uni is sending her to the states next year to study music and eventually she hopes to teach. What's betting her students get to hear Tull? Yeah, if her dad had lived he would have been very, very proud of her.
