Historians guess that distillation started somewhere between 1 AD and 100 AD, so they JUST cut Jesus off at the end of his life... But if you look at the stories in the Bible (and the churches acceptance of alcohol), you can see that Jesus was the first person to make a clear alcoholic beverage. If you had NEVER seen vodka before, and had been drinking fermented juice to get drunk your whole life. You would PROBABLY be like "That's not going to get me drunk, it's water" then Jesus was like "No, it's not water, it's the best wine you've ever had". Then you drink it, AND HE WAS RIGHT!!! That's not exactly word for word what happened in the story, but it puts perspective on the even that makes more sense that Jesus was chosen as the messiah (The chosen Warlord to win back Israel for the Jews) not because he was a peace monger, but because he had something that made people believe in him.
LOL, love it. He got them drunk, and through their inebriated states they mistook him for the son of god.
No, the Bible was written 30 years after his death. He didn't trick them, they just remembered him as such. And there are well known anthropologists that believe Jesus was sharing a supply of Amanita Muscaria (Alice in Wonderland/Red and White) mushrooms via urine, while sharing Jewish traditions passed down to him by an old hermit. So liquor would fit there too, drunk conversation is just as prolific as tripping conversation to some people.
I guess it doesn't matter that the text specifically says wine. The men and women in that time would know what wine was and what it wasn't. The people in those days weren't as stupid as would have us believe. Also, if Jesus knew it wasn't wine, why do you think would he call it wine?
