I was wondering when a thread was going to be made.. I think it looks very good. The previews are interesting.
i'm worried that there is going to be some kind of side love story/ emotional crap that wrecks movies like that though... another thing i'm wondering is if it will be either right or left wing, ie. Making soldiers look bad or showing them as heros
......ww2, all sorts of politically motivated war films were made.... some for, some against, the ones for the war are remembered by and large by the mass populace...... well america won.... of course the pro war propaganda is remembered.....
I sincerely hope this isn't a movie based on the Anthony Swofford book......although, that might not be so bad, it was fucking hilarious (shame it was supposed to be serious)
looks good--also looks liek it deals a lot with religion [plying Jesus Walks in tyhe previews, Jamie Foxx constantly talking about God, and a sergent or somethign yelling aout being God's Army]
I think I might check out the book before I go see the movie. I think it looks pretty good. I have yet to see a bad film with Jake Gyllenhaal in it, but then again I haven't seen them all.
the movie looks pretty interesting. i want to see it, but I'm afraid itll be some right-wing piece of shit
Seeing as my bro wants to go into the Marines and my dad is overseas in Iraq I want to see it. But only it is lightens the way I feel about the whole thing.
I don't think it's going to be right wing.. I think it is simply trying to show how hard life is in battle/army. I dont think it's too political, and if it is, i think it would lean more to the left.
It was done by the director of American Beauty, so I doubt it will be too far in right field. I don't really peg Sam Mendes as much of a conservative. His last two movies were masterpieces, so it should be better than the shit out now in any case.
Interesting fact, he was also involved in The Kite Runner which is a big seller among books right now.
A movie that veers from the book...imagine!!! Actually, that wouldn't be the first time this has happened. The question is whether it veers in a good way or a bad way.
Did anyone go see this yet? It was great. I never read the book so I don't have any comparisons for you, but the movie was awesome. Go see it if you haven't already.
