I need a new jam band or two to get into. I"ve been listening to the same stuff for too long, and I need a bit of a change. Anyone have any suggestions? I prefer the more well-known stuff over obscure ones, because its easier for me to get that way.

The String Cheese Incident is really awesome. Theres some cool stuff of theirs, as well as tons of other people's on mp3.tyedye.net. Trey Anastasio is good...Phil Lesh and Friends...Widespread Panic...Wilco...some Zappa could be considered jam...and there's tons of Grateful Dead which is different, depending on the time period (except you've probably heard a lot of it...) Gov't Mule...Allmans...Derek Trucks Band...Santana...I don't know...its all good music.

You might also want to check out some jazz...there's a lot of very psychedelic jambandlike jazz out there...the first ones you should hear are Miles Davis and John Coltrane, and um probably some guitar players so..Bill Frisell and Pat Metheny..and check out Dave Holland...

i'd check out moe, Rusted Root, Phish (their early stuff), and SCI (if you like really psychadelic bluegrass funky crap theyr awsome). The first albums I'd get would be "A Picture of Nectar" by Phish, and "Wormwood" by Moe.
