Here I was braggin' how I now got "high speed" Internet access down under, and after only two days of working on the sites, they cut me back from the "superfast" 256K, to the painfully slow 64K rate. Can you believe in this day & age they're "throttling" back people cause they use the internet too much? I don't see how they can call 64K bandwidth broadband like they do here. Esp. if you use your high speed quota in a couple of days! This is fucking insane! They only gave me 200MB at 256K before they cut me back. Unfortunately this setup was here when I got here, but I didn't know where the cutoff was. I can order my own setup that will give me 512K and 25 Gigs of download before being "throttled". That should be enuf, but now I've got to get the home owner to agree to take her account with her, and let me get my own. This is the shit for trying to work! Fucking Australia still hasn't woken up and smelled the Internet coffee that the rest of the world has been drinking for years. Even Thailand has much better & cheaper access!
dude....i was pimpin the dialup for years and years, didn't see broadband till i got to college. definitly had over 3k songs from dialup...commitment man...or maybe insanity...
Yeah, but it's a bitch to have to go back down this drastically in speed, as I was used to 2MB, once upon a time in a land far, far away!
I know what ya mean, Skip. I'm running at 512K DSL. My neighbor, has AOL on a 56k Dial-up. I hate going to his house!
i know what you mean, going home from my college T1 connection to 28.8 dialup.....makes a guy wanna cry. and they wonder why i don't come home very often
mine charge a shit load for a 750-128kbps line that they advertise at 1024. but its the rare reminders like these that helps me realise that my isp isnt so bad afterall
today I had to wait all morning & part of the afternoon for Outlook to download over 12,000 error messages and clear them from the server. What a fucking drag! All that wait and there was only one important message in the lot! otherwise I would've just deleted them at once directly on the server.
Please, oh great Webmaster. TELL me you don't mean Microsofts "Outlook Express"?! That's a FBI tool to look at what your Email is!
LOL! Let the FBI sort thru it all then! Save me the hassle! Now I know why our govt is so ineffective. They're all sorting thru our junk mail! Well at least they now know how to achieve & maintain erections! I don't have anything to hide from the FBI anyways. I'm sure their file on me is huge (after all it does have to contain my tremendous erection!)
WOOOOOOOOOO HOOOO SHOW IT TO US SKIPPER,,! ive been thru yer gallery an have yet to see it,, give it to us baby,, UH HUH UH HUH!!! Luv n Lite
I'm using 42.0 kbps on dial-up. Can still use e-mail, make welcome signs, download most everything tho it takes awhile. What really sucks is some leaders/admin/moderators of some sites...can ya believe in this day & age they still ain't learned what free speech means?
I wish I could xfer some of my 20MB fiber service to you folks, I could spare a couple MBs now 'n then
Skip, I have just churned to Westnet. I had to pay a $25 churn fee as I did not want to tie myself into a contract. When you are talking about ADSL in Australia, it is always cheaper to churn from an existing ISP account than do a complete new set up. Anyway the deal I get with Westnet is for $29.95/month I get 500MB at the standard ADSL speed and anything above that slows back to 64k, but no excess charge. You can also chop and change the package you are on with Westnet. http://www.westnet.com.au/ Hipforums itself does not use much MB. What can waste your download is spyware. My PC crashed last month because of bloody spyware. Firefox is supposed to be immune to it.My technician put an updated version of Spybot my PC that seems to be able to clear out the rubbish.
Bilby, Hipforums uses almost 150 Gigs a month (not including the galleries which do almost as much!), so I wouldn't say it doesn't use much. But I'm talking about my personal access, not our servers which are hosted on a huge network in Amsterdam. Curl Internet did a great job getting me transfered over. I've got 25 Gigs download a month at 512K (well not quite), and it's only $35 a month, so you might want to try them if you don't like being cut back. And that's with only a month to month deal, no long term contract.
As they say...you can never go back..hehe Yeah...they keep trying to enlarge my erection too...Now if they only offered to find it as well, lol....
What I meant was that browsing and posting in Hipforums does not use that much MB. Maybe I should have gone for Curl Internet. ISP deals are certainly better than five years ago when I started surfing the net with pay by the minute on dial up that frequently drop out.
