I just got back from the animal hospital (it's 4:10 AM) and I just got my dog put down.

It's the saddest thing ever, and I'm telling everyone who has a pet right now and has never had one die: It's THE hardest thing your ever going to go through.

My mom stayed home and watched my sister and me and my dad went.
When I was leaving I had to see him just one more time so we went back in and then got to see him, he looked so peaceful and relieved of his pain.

The vet and his assistants were crying and said it never gets easier.

I knew tonight would be the night, thats why I staye up beside him until my dad said he had to go, so my mom had to wake my sister up and tell her to say goodbye.

This is the saddest day ever.

    R.I.P Cisco.

i want to crawl into your lap and give you a big hug.

ive lost a few animals in my lifetime. my moms cat had to be put down this summer very suddenly and i was there when it happened. she looked me in the eyes when she died. it was fuckin awful. i sobbed and sobbed. i was distraught for days.

its just so awful. i cant help but look at my animals and evn tho they are young i worry so much about when they are going to pass. its such a responsibilty, to decide when its best for them to go.

i know u did whats best for your dog. you know it too.

Sorry to hear that. Keep in mind he is in the big dog park enjoying himself like a puppy and I believe we will be with them again. Think of the good times.

That's really sad, I'm sorry. But like MaryJane said you definitely did the right thing. Some dog owners who won't put their dog down when that's clearly the best solution are being selfish.

Losing a pet sucks big time.. I lost my cat after 11 years about 2 years ago.. it was really hard on me and the family... but you get past it.

Oh yeah, as shity as you feel right now.. it could be worst.. at least it's not a family member (although he might have been considered one) or close friend.

This is the last picture ever taken of him (on his last day) http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewImage&friendID=199902948&albumID=459151&imageID=16351670 He looks so sad :(

These two are when he was a puppy, a real long time ago. I had to take a picture of an actual picture to get these.

When my cat died of cancer I was incredibly sad. I spent a lot of time with him before he passed though.

I feel even worse now because it's the day after.... well not tecnhically the next day but it feels like it.

I'll never get to see him again :( But I know he's not in pain anymore so that makes me feel ok. But I dont think I can ever get another dog, because it gives you the worst feeling ever.

i thought that you said in your other thread that you goot some medicine that was suppose to help after like 12 hours???? that medicine almost always works or something like that.

i had a black lab that i had from when i was really little and we had to give her to a friend because we had to move away. i never did see her again but i know she lived a good life where she was at. the only thing that really bothered me is when she was dieing the guy that we left her with just left her at the humane society before they opened for the day to die. i guess she had cancer really bad she was around 15 at the least. he just left her there in front of the building so he wouldnt have to pay to put her to sleep... anyways he was dumb and left the tags on her so they got back with him and gave him a fine and i think he still had to pay to put her to sleep.

right now i have a cat and i hate all his fur all over and how he always gets sick and throws up and stuff. hes just such a lovable cat that i just dont want to get rid of. my dad always complains about the hair and him puking and that hes gonna get rid of him but we never do. lately its been better with this new food that seems to be working better.

oh my god that is so sad. i know it probably doesn't help to hear this, but i can understand what you're going through. i've lost a few pets myself, and also friends' pets that were close to me. i'm a real animal person, so it hits real hard when it happens.
on the bright side, atleast you're openly talking about it. that always helps. and you never know, in a few months/years you may get a new dog, but im' sure the sound of it right now isn't too pleasing. hang in there man, the dog is in a better place now. no pain. and atleast you're getting practice with death now. (one reason of getting pets while younger)
i was at a funeral a few years ago, and someone said something that really struck a chord with me. maybe it will help you, maybe not. i'll try anyway.
"death is like the horizon. it is NOT the end, but the end to which we can see"
    peace.

p.s., don't force yourself to be happy if you're not. take the time to go through all this shit while you can, or you'll carry it with you forever.
