i really had no idea where to put this... deadbear's gym (pretty dead... haha) random thoughts (too busy) or women's issues?.. hmmm.... anyway, here goes. i decided i'm going to start riding my bike to and from class four days a week. you know, for exercise, and to save a little moola on gas.. not to mention it's environmentally friendly.. hehe, anyway, today was my first day and i must say... it hurts. i mean, i have a padded seat that i bought for it a few years ago, and yet, my cootchie is killing me while i'm on that thing... leaning back is okay, but i can't reach the handlebars very well, and leaning forward is out of the question, it hurts even more. so, does anybody have any advice?... i don't know how many women around here ride a bicycle, but i'm hoping it's not just a matter of getting used to it.. (although that would give me some hope) should i try to strengthen my butt muscles?? maybe it would lift me higher up off the seat... damn, i wonder if guys' balls get squished while riding their bikes... oh i know, does anybody ride horses? i would imagine some of the same effects might happen, though it's a larger surface to sit on. well, sorry for the graphic quality of some of that, but i'm exhausted too... according to yahoo, i did a total of about 12 miles today... go me!
ugh. bike seats. i go for hte beach cruiser fat ass seats, because those tissues down there are just TOO TENDER for that kind of abuse. i don't need those toughened up or desensitized, that's all i have to say about that.
oh no hunny, i'm sorry to hear baout your bike troubles , maybe you hould invest in a catapult instead of a bike at anyrate, yes our balls do get squished but not if we ride it right and don't get in any accidents, were you standing up and peddaling at all, or sititng hte whole time.....oh and maybe the seat is a bit too high?
it could be multiple reasons why its uncomfortable...it could be that your not used to riding bike, it could be the actual seat, you could be sitting to high or to low, your posture could be bad, the handlebars are to far away. see, many different things. my advice, since i can't actually see you riding your bike right now, is to go to a local bike shop and try to get some answers. believe me, these questions get asked all the time. they do have biking shorts out there with padding, that add support for both men and women. and they do have ones that arent' skin tight either. so there are solutions to these problems.... with my bike, i had to by a new seat on my cross country bike trip because i was having a lot of pain in my balls the first few days of the trip. i got a seat that also helps prevent testicular cancer, so thats a plus...and it pretty much stopped the pain in my balls....
what do you mean by padded seat? the kind you screw onto the bike, or the gel covers that go over the seat? My bike has a very old seat, so I finally bought one of those gel things last year (for a whole $20 new) and it really helped out, my ass doesn't chronically hurt anymroe during the summer What about lowering your seat so you don't have to lean so far forward to reach the handles? Would that help at all, or would it be too awkward to pedal properly?
hmm i have a gel seat cover.. it's nice, but not quite good enough... i think i probably do need to lower the seat, i should see if i can do that tonight thanks for that advice fitzy, i was considering goign to a bike shop but dind't want to sound like a stupid girl.... *blush* but i also need to do something with my gears as well. the chain was totally off of it yesterday so i put it back on, but i don't think i put it on correctly... :/
your not going to sound like a stupid girl...haha. its fine. they'll be glad your asking question, because then they get to help someone get even more interested in biking. the more comfortable you are, the more you will want to bike. thats why many people dont' bike, they find it uncomfortable for one reason or another. i really hope you can find a solution to this...then you'll bike more and that makes me happy
well thank you i'm definitely going to have to do that now, because i checked my seat and it's already on the lowest setting... hopefully i dont' need a smaller bike.... eek... although i did see a guy at school with an old boy's bike... may have been bmx, but didn't have those bars on the back wheel... hehe... i dont' think i could ride around with a little girls' bike though... anyway, enough with the rambling, my dad has cycled for years, but he lives far away, and i don't really know anybody here who rides a bike... so bike shop it is
or women's issues?.. hmmm.... anyway, here goes. i decided i'm going to start riding my bike to and from class four days a week. you know, for exercise, and to save a little moola on gas.. not to mention it's environmentally friendly..- How long are you riding for? hehe, anyway, today was my first day and i must say... it hurts. i mean, i have a padded seat that i bought for it a few years ago, and yet, my cootchie is killing me while i'm on that thing... leaning back is okay, but i can't reach the handlebars very well, and leaning forward is out of the question, it hurts even more. so, does anybody have any advice?...- Did you try adjusting the seat? i don't know how many women around here ride a bicycle, but i'm hoping it's not just a matter of getting used to it.. (although that would give me some hope) should i try to strengthen my butt muscles?? maybe it would lift me higher up off the seat... damn, i wonder if guys' balls get squished while riding their bikes... - Yep, and sometimes even hit. oh i know, does anybody ride horses? i would imagine some of the same effects might happen, though it's a larger surface to sit on.- I'm allegic to horses well, sorry for the graphic quality of some of that, but i'm exhausted too... according to yahoo, i did a total of about 12 miles today... go me! 12 Miles on a bike??? Well, I used to ride my bike for several hours a day and never had butt problems.
i don't know how long it really was.. yahoo is probably way off... i didn't have to stop hardly at all, and i think it was a total of just under two hours?.. i rode to and from the classes twice, so four trips... *shrug*
my dad used to do 30 in one go two days a week at least... and he'd only be gone a couple hours... i think. i was pretty young at the time
oh yeah...i rode on a bike for the first time in centuries and the next day it hurt so much. it felt like i was gang banged.
