It sure is funny when you are young and you dress a certain way that it's the coolest thing in the world until you get older. I mean you never realize how your clothes date you and the things that you liked back then you are now trying to forget. This is a post that demands participation. You can be brave or a coward (like me) and post a picture of either you or a family member when they were young. The more outdated the more fun. I'll start with my signature snapshot of my grandma. This is how she dressed when she was young. I think it's pretty but for some reason fashion trends don't duplicate. They take a little from different eras but never the whole thing. I hope you have fun with this. Ladies, and gents let's see those fashions!!

I just think it's funny that a lot of the skirts and dresses that are becoming popular right now date back to the 50s and the 60s. I was walking thru the mall a week or so ago and saw this pretty yellow dress that looked a lot like a swing dress I saw a picture of my grandmother wearing when she was my age. And the skirts! There is a very interesting combination of those knee length cotten skirts and blouses that look very 50s and broomstick skirts. It's really weird.

Of course, I've been dressing in some of those clothes for awhile now, so I really have no grounds to call anyone else retro.

If i remember correctly, about '95, the 60's look was back in a big way. The 70's has had the same thing. Everything goes in cycles, lately 70's wedges have come back into fashion and i bet it won't be long before leg warmers and ra ra skirts of the 80's say hi again :p

fashion and me do not get along. i have always been and will always be a jeans and t-shirt kind of gal. i can clean up if the need arises - but lets hope it don't. does this make me in-style, out of style, or do i simply have no style???

    Meh same here :)
You can possibly avoid clothes looking dated after a while. That's just the nature of fashion.

My Mum has so total fashion doozies, during the 80's/early 90's she had a perm that looked not unlike wire wool. Her clothes weren't too great either.
My Dad looked pretty good, all things considered. He makes stupid comments abbout me having bell bottoms, but there are plenty of pics of him wearing some.

Trickster: the 80's look did make revial a couple of years ago (and maybe that's still ongoing). Must have been the point I turned my back on fashion. Seriously those are sick joke right. Surely everyone remembers how God awful they looked back then, so why do it again?

Awwwwwww Maggie, you were so cute. :)

lol, everyone has a style. Their own personal style whatever it may be.
Whatever you wear, that's your style, that's you :) Beats being like everyone else.

Except when they're yelling screaming messes. Then they go out of style rather quickly.

The 80's fashion is still 'in' right now.... bright blaring colors which don't match at all, clothing which in my opinion is quite ugly... it's all coming back! I'm sure many of these people will look back ten years from now and remark 'I actually wore THAT?!'... as for me, I'll stick with my timeless natural-colored flowy skirts, flared panst (which I'm having trouble finsing) and t-shirts... but then again, on occasion I'll wear corset tops, knee-high red and black striped socks, and somewhat short skirts with lots of lace... I'm sure ten years from now I laugh at pictures where I'm wearing that stuff! XD
