I've read somewhere that Muslim people absolutely hate Athiests, and should kill them where they find them. Is this true? What would happen to me if I were to go to a country like say Iran? and mention my lack of belief. Any insight on this subject would be helpful, thanks

Please I ask do not confuse the violence and ignorance of some Muslims with the teachings of Islam. They are not the same, sometimes Muslims are wrong, they are afterall, human, so they may have misinterpreted the Holy Quran, but that does not make Islam violent, that makes some people that happen to be Muslim violent.
