I wish there were pictures around from the dark ages, of peasant families with no hope for a better tomorrow. The world still sucks, but at least there are isolated pockets of light and love and knowledge, and we aren't all just living in misery.

The worst you can show me of todays wars pales in comparison to the days when murder and rape of civilians was not only accepted but expected by the victor of a war.

The world has only become a better place for humans with time. We're not perfect, but we're headed in that direction at least.

I'm sorry you actually believe that but keep in mind that only two hundred years ago you would barely have a clue as to what is going on outside of your state, let alone your country.

Knowledge is power and the ability of the average person to access knowledge is growing, everywhere.

I think you will find this is still the case for armies that are not constantly under surveillance by the press ! if they can get away with it they will do it !

 

there are always vested intrests in depicting other times and places in thier worst possible light. which doesn't mean they were better or anything, it just means you have to take all of that, and that means most of the mainstream of how history is taught, with something of a grain of salt.

i believe there will come a time of real peace in this world, but that will come, most likely only after there is real freedom, and that, most likely only after america stops demonizing everything that doesn't kiss the ass of little green pieces of paper and starts remembering how to create beauty instead of just destroy everything - unless it colapses like russia did - but either way, america itself isn't likely to be truely free until it starts ALLOWING the rest of the world to be free also (NOT forcing economic fanatacism down its throat at the expence of civil liberties, human rights and even the web of life itself)
