I mean, of course there are tons that call themselves Christian, but do any true Christians exist? No 'Christian' I have ever met follows the word of the Bible all that accurately. I've never met a Christian that follows the Kosher laws that Jesus himself followed (and Constantine discarded when converting Rome), even though the Bible says anything about "not needing to follow them any longer". I've never met any 'Christian' that refuses to be yoked with unbelievers (though maybe they have some atheist avoiding radar that keeps them from me). I've never met any 'Christian' that has tried to kill me for being an unbeliever. I've never met a 'Christian' that supports women marrying their rapists, or believes that no woman should have dominance over a man. Should we consider these revisionists as Christians, even though they do not follow the Word?
last week my cousin comes to visit, Shes 54.. being older dude myself I found it interesting that my cousins age she was still very attractive, so Im guessing shes my age... When I found out shes 54. I had to do the math.. It turns out my aunt had her when she was 16. Ok These people when I was growing up were fucking jesus freaks. My aunt and uncle. the church shit was a put on out on.. my 54 yr cousin was also pregnant when she was 16.. apple dont fall far i guess. but once again the pretend Christian shit is breed in the family, its a put on put on.. like some show for their off spring. I suppose the way they looked at it. As if they acted all jesus like their kids would grow up, get married in a church... ' LOL.. That aint happening.. my cousins offspring was just as young getting knocked up. not near as young but also out of wedlock.. And they point their fingers at me cause im a Muslim... LOL...
So does that mean that it is impossible to follow the Word and the will of Yahweh/God? AKA impossible to be a true Christian.
Good luck with that definition. Someone once told me they were a Christian Buddhist agnostic druid. I laughed cause I thought he was joking. He wasn't joking.
Two christians knocked on my door a couple of days ago. A young guy and a girl. ESL. The dude alone did the talking while the girl smiled. He asked me if I know the mother. I said "Yes." They lit up! He said we all have to die, I asked "All of us?", "Yes" he replied. "In fire". I looked disappointed. They said something about end times. I asked "When?" But they didn't seem to understand. I offered to take their pamphlet and made a motion to take it from his hand but he wouldn't give it to me. They said we all must die which is why we need "water of life." I said water is excellent, then suggested to them that we should eat magic mushrooms too but he frowned at me and said "No mushroom in bible." I mentioned "Eternity" and they again lit up, but when I mentioned mushrooms again they actually walked away! At least the girl smiled politely! As they left, I said "Love!" and meant it too, ---the guy looked at me confusedly. Communication breakdooooowwwn Nietzsche said it. "The only christian died on the cross." Orison: Do you have to cover your skins with a jihad?
we'll never know.. unless some gospel written by jesus himself emerges... the new testament is other peoples interpretation of his teachings
Perhaps you'd like to inform us of how the word of the bible says we should be. It's a very complicated task that requires much interpretation which of course is always open for debate. Simply put I think that most christian people are doing the best they can with their personal understanding of what the bible says. It's a subjective thing. Someone could come off to you as a person who calls themselves a christian but to you they don't seem to act in a way that you interpret to be christian. However they are just being the way their understanding of the bible has told them to be.
Jesus said - Love the Lord your God with all your Heart, Mind, and Spirit and your neighbor as yourself. That is the Gospel. Can anyone meet all the criteria as laid out in the New Testament - No - but Jesus knows we are not Jesus.
I wasn't insulting you man, I was making a point. The point being that there are too many definitions of what a christian is to be able to make such a vague statement like your original post. I read my bible almost every day.
I'm not a Christian...so what I'm about to say is not my opinion. However, I was raised Christian, and this is what I was taught: Jesus was the only perfect person. No man or woman can even come close to being perfect because we are subject to the laws of our sinful human nature. God offered Jesus as a sacrifice to die for our sins so that his blood will wash our sins clean. If we believe in Jesus and ask for forgiveness for our sins, God will forgive us. No one is perfect enough to be allowed into the kingdom of Heaven, but because God so loved the world and gave his only begotten son, whosoever believeth in him shall not perish but have everlasting life. Yeah.....It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, either. It basically gives people an excuse to "sin" their asses off so long as they send up a quick shout out to J-Dawg and ask for forgiveness. Seems like it just gives people an excuse to be hypocritical assholes, in my opinion.
a christian is someone who believes in jesus christ. edit: this is out of a dictionary. i assume this entails someone who believes that jesus christ was really the son of god and our savior, etc.
peaceful libra- you should reread what she posted. she said it doesn't make sense to her. you are just making yourself look ignorant and rude by insulting her.
oh and i'm not sure there are any christ-like people out there, but if there are, then they're (in my opinion) most likely not christians.
