I've been donating for a while now, probably 3 months or so. At first, I just went to see how it was cause I heard they paid you. Which they do (normally $35).

Now they're paying me $100 a donation up in that bitch because I qualify for their Hep B program, since I had my shots when I was younger, and my anti-bodies are fairly high in my blood (supposedly this is really rare). And I can go twice a week = $200 extra spending money.

On top of that, I get bonuses every 6th and 8th donations per month of $40 on top of the $100 they already give me.

So all in all, I'm clearing over $800 a month just off donating plasma.

It's hard for me to NOT go. I just feel like a labrat even if it is going for a good cause, who knows though.

Anybody know anything about this, or do/done this?

BTW.. when they return your blood back into your vein, its mixed with Iodine if that means anything.

Can your fucking vein collapse or some shit after getting stuck so many times in the same spot?

I've heard of that happenin before, but most of the time its from needle junkies, not professional nurses.

First of your not donating plasma, you are selling it. If you were to donate it you would not except money. But if they are willing to pay you and you need the cash, I see no problem there.

My dad donated platelets for YEARS (over 300 donations) and they use 14g needles, and dads veins never collapesed. But, he does have alot of scar tissue. But he can't donate anymore.

Donating - Selling.. whatever. They call it donating at this place.

And it's not the cash I'm so worried about, I'm good on the money.

I'm one of the highest paid 'donaters' @ the entire plasma/blood center. And that includes like 3 semi-large cities.

Having ALOT of anti-bodies for Heb B is what I'm afraid of. Just seems a bit odd, but maybe I'm just a rare type of breed. :D

They told me the other day that the anti-bodies will eventually go back down, but they could give me a 'booster' to bring them back up if that ever happened..

We're not doctors. I'd check with your doctor. If she says it's okay, go for it.

Nah, its free. Cause they make mad money of it, they WANT you to have special shit so they can make more money off you.

They turn around and sell these things to hospitals and I guess whoever needs them for 5-10x what they pay you.

I heard someone say that the regular plasma donaters that get $35 get flipped for $450 @ the minimum to some of the hospitals.

That is the point I'm at now. I don't know.

$100 for an hour of your time twice a week is hard to pass up.

I've asked nurses and doctors @ the center, but I can't trust people that are making bank off my bodily fluids. Of course they are going to tell you everything is alright. Specially if I'm one of the top heads.

I've yet to hear anything bad come of it, just was wondering if anybody had any bad experiments with it.

I want to donate SOMETHING, blood or plasma, but do they turn away pot smokers? Cuz I'm boned if they do. Otherwise, I completely meet their criteria.
