i was reading an article about physics and einstein. It was about how Einstein plagerized, and didnt really come up wit hthe theories hes acredited to. The guy who wrote the article talks about how out of all the sciences, biology geology chemistry, physics is the only one that has "superheroes" like Einstein. The main reason is they know that the government aids popular organizations, and to make physics sound exciting by introducing a character like Einstein who is a complete genius would mean more grants. Id like to think Enstein really was all he is built up to be, and perhaps this guy just has some beef with him, but who knows?
i read some books about history of science, last one was ''a short history of nearly everything'' by bill bryson and it's really god. according to all of them, einstein is author of those theories. there are allways people, mostly sensationalistic journalists who want to dig something up and if they can't, they are not shy of lying. as for popularizing some organizations, conspiracy theorists claim that about nasa. nasa is credited for some inventions like velcro and teflon, but they claim all that are products of millitary industry. supposedly nasa get credits for easier budget-voting in congress.
I teacher back in high school taught me that Einstein worked with 2 other guys (I disremember their names) as a group on the theories. Then, Einstein took credit for it in his name only. Not sure how much I believe that, but that's my 2 cents.
I have read a fair bit about the history of science. Have never heard anyone question the importance of Einstein. It is true that there is kind of a flavor of the month in science. It was Physics for many years and now it is Cell biology. But that is more public attention than any thing within the science community.
