I was recently busted by my parents adn asked them what they found so bad about pot and all they said was it was illegal. so i went on google and looked up some anti-marijuana activism and found only shit from the 1950's(reefer madness, which is a good movie to watch high, lol) that was discredited in the 1960's pro pot research. so if you are anti-pot and are reading this please tell me what you feel is so bad about mariuana.
and those of you who are pro pot research many good qualities on pot and then write your goviner, or if you have a hardcore republican, then write a congressman cuz ou probally wont get to a repub. legalize it now

Nothing, the government can't just legalize it and say oh sorry we were wrong. That will cause many conflicts and stuff. It's just not worth it to the government.

I prefer to be neutral about my knowledge of cannabis. there can be negative and positive things from it. Smoking every day does not affect the human brain, contradictory to what abovetheinfluence says. Abovetheinfluence claims that long term use can result in changes in the brain similar to cocaine and heroine, which is a lie. Long term, heavy use can result in upper respiratory problems, however these are mild, the most severe it can get would be bronchitis (which is not very severe). It never causes lung cancer, or any other kind of cancer. the tar is what creates the upper respiratory problems, but like I said does NOT cause cancer. When the filter was introduced to the cigarette, it was expected to cut cancer rates by half, because it reduced the tar. the cancer rates did not change at all, which shows it is something else found only in tobacco and not cannabis. I have already sent a letter to my senator ;)

There are several government sponsored studies that recommended decriminalisation or legalisation for non-medical use. Check out the National Commission on Marijuana and Drug Abuse from 1972, commissioned by President Nixon for starters. Much too Nixon's dismay the study recommended that marijuana should be decriminalized.

check out the pro-MJ literature here: http://norml.org/index.cfm?Group_ID=7305

Ron Paul, a republican candidate for the presidential race has already stated that the war on drugs is wrong and that he'd repeal the laws against marijuana. so yes there are republicans you can write to about this.

the Shafer Commission in 1972 recommended that marijuana be decriminalized. download a copy of the report here: http://www.csdp.org/news/news/nixon.htm

if you're smoking/keeping MJ in your parent's house then they have a point about it being illegal. although it's unlikely there could be legal repercussions and i'm sure you don't want that.

you need to look at his platform before you start calling Ron Paul a liberal. he's not a liberal and his platform is a lot more old-school, pre-neocon republican.

would you like him to be elected or would you just like to dismiss him altogether because someone told you he can't be elected? i hear the same thing all the time, "he won't get elected." he's already elected! he's been a congressman for 10 terms now. with that attitude you're defeated before you begin.

No there are no reasons for Cannabis to be illegal. Ron Paul IS NOT A LIBERAL, He is the least liberal candidate. You need to look at his record and research what it means to be a liberal. Ron Paul is ULTRA CONSERVATIVE
