I kind of went off them during the faggy Reflektor stuff, it all kind of went to their heads a bit there. Album was OK, but their previous efforts were better. Sprawl II, No Cars Go and all that. They splashed out on this video, and it totally works with the song, which is OK. It's a bit generic though, however I like that they have gone more back to their old barefoot hippie roots. I hated this when I first heard it, but now I think it might be slightly epic. The tribal flute sound makes me think of Men At Work. The piano makes me think of ABBA. Neither of those things are necessarilly bad. The problem is the whole song from the start sounds like the fade out to an anthem. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zC30BYR3CUk They said they were going to call it a day after the third album The Suburbs to pursue solo careers, but none of them were particularly succesful. RĂ©gine Chassagne's album was a bit boring, and then I discovered there were two Butler brothers..
They've totally nailed the video though. It's a masterpiece. I wonder how much they spent on it, I hope it was a grassroots amount. Because you can make a video like this on a budget now, if you have a drone. Drones are reinventing everything. There are some great shots, and the band are looking hot as ever. A bit surreal at the end too, very evocative work as you'd expect from the AF. Lots of bands make it big, then splash out on expensive videography that just doesn't work and makes the song sound shit even if it's actually quite good. There's a real art to it and whoever made this video knows how to do it right.
Do whatever the fuck you want. I don't care. The boy on the fence watching the planes go by and at the end with all the chemtrails, is that a reference to No Cars Go, I know a place where no planes go? Probably.
I think this song resonates with the heart of this song, but it's by no means my favourite Queen song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKE3Kh6syb8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hFDcoX7s6rE
