I always wondered about situations like this with men who donate sperm. "while Britain, Norway, China and other countries have passed laws limiting the number of children conceived per donor, the United States relies solely on voluntary guidelines. That has raised fears that the offspring of prolific donors could meet and fall in love without knowing they were closely related, putting their children at risk of genetic disorders." https://www.sfgate.com/news/article/Children-of-sperm-donors-find-their-half-siblings-13224017.php
If you can make money through donating sperm, go for it. I think people should adopt kids rather than make new ones though. Especially with the planet being overpopulated and all.
It's always bothered me that we need security from jobs, assets, land, income, insurances etc to get a simple car loan because it's a responsibility but you can just have a baby for the sake of it and then it ends up without a family. People should be subjected to the same responsibilities and probably go through an evaluation to have children these days. Let's face it, we don't exactly need an influx of children or people on this earth, time to start selective breeding or something alike IMO.
not to mention, as a guy, it can be hazardous to your financial health. more than one case has been reported where the mother sued the sperm bank for details of the donor, and then pursued him for child support.
I bet ancestry DNA results are awkward for sperm donors. You sign up for ancestry.com and have hundreds of matches for sons and daughters
I think you are absolutely right, but I've found it's a subject that most people find uncomfortable even to talk about.
I don't know. It seems like it might be pretty awkward. You'd have to masturbate in a clinical setting... Maybe not.
That comes with today's technology I guess. DNA companies is another thing people didn't think about when sperm donating started. A sperm donor can now find out how many kids he actually has out there.
Did you know that there are LESS THAN 8 billion humans left in the wild? Donating YOUR sperm today is the only way that we can keep this poor endangered species from extinction. It is SO VERY important!
Sperm is an endangered species in Western man. Sperm count has dropped massively due to men taking too hot baths, wearing too tight briefs and more seriously from synthetic chemicals entering the food and water supply. I don't know if I'm firing blanks because I've never tried for a baby but I think I'd rather adopt anyway.
Reduced sperm count is arguably a good thing, although it results from toxins which obviously have an impact on more than fertility. I think that in countries like China and India, where pollution is a big issue due to overpopulation, the governments should pay people who opt to become sterilized. If people don't want to have children, then why should they still have the ability to? Worst case scenario, people change their mind after being sterilized, but there are plenty of orphans in the world.
It's a misconception that we face over-population. If the right things are done the Earth's population can stabilize at around 12-13 billion. There's a very interesting TED talk where the guy clearly demonstrate how this can be achieved. I can't find the YouTube right now but I'll have a look. Obviously certain things need to be done. Part of it involves improving conditions in places like Africa. They have so many children out of insecurity. If the standard of life there was dramatically improved families would likely reduce to having just one or two children. The video is tricky to follow but it was pretty convincing. I think some people at the top and their minions like to push paranoia about over-population because of their own warped agenda.
Ancestry and DNA sites are leftist propaganda tools to coerce people into believing they're not white.
