when my bro first done my dreads for me 6 months ago he thought he knew everything like usual but rly he knew fuck all. he plastered my hair full of wax and told me to never ever sleep on my dreads. iv got al the wax out but iv bin reading posts on here about ppl sleping on their dreads so i thought: is sleeping on your dreads good for them atall? my hair hasnt rly knotted up much but on quite a fw of the roots thers around 2 inches of knotted hair and i wondered if thats from lying on those bits. well what ye think?
My hair seems to be doin' fine, I sleep on mine all the time - I rarely even bother with a hat or anything. Maybe get some gnarly wool pillow cases
woahhh wool pillow cases, that would be intense! i want some! i slept on mine like all the time :S i think it helped them actually because when you move in your sleep your hair is all like smoosh smoosh which cant be bad lol just pick them apart when you wake up lol.
It seems to knot my hair up more, however some of my dreads at the back are very flat because of sleeping on them
I've been putting them up at night but last night I left them down and it seems to help. Not only are they getting some rubbing as I toss but it really toned down some of my Sideshow Bobness. I think I'm gonna sleep that way with them from now on.
I really don't think there's any difference. My advice is not to get a fluffy pillowcase. I had one and now my dreads have little peices of fluff all through them, which is hard to get out. Ahhhhhh!
ive tryed wearing a hat and stuff, now i dont botter, and for me the only difference is a few flat dreads
It helps my hair...especially if I wear a hat to bed, which I rarely do. It's itchy. Anyway, yeah. There's proof. Kind of. My dreads are more developed on the sides of my head. I sleep on my side.
kool i will sleep on mine more often. although pretty much all my dreads at the back are like paper flat but each has like atleast 3-4 crazy loops so it should be fine
i used to sleep with a cap on but i feel that my dreads lock up much faster with sleeping on them uncovered.
munkey no offence your new here, but dragging up all sorts of 2 year old threads doesnt help, it just pushes newer more important threads out of sight thnx
actually thats the purpose of the search button and it helps save on bandwidth.. there is absolutely no reason to start a new thread if there is already one on the topic you wish to comment on.. i personally encourage everyone to use the search button here before they start a new thread to save space on skips server.. every little bit helps.. dont worry if the thread is 4 years old,if it pertains to the topic you wish to discuss, please post there rather than start a duplicate thread on the same subject.. im sure the webmaster will appreciate it..:cheers2: BTW,, how can you not sleep on your dreads unless you sleep standing up?? i mean seriously, whether its in a hat or not your still going to be laying on them..lol
Yeh....to be honest, I've done that quite a lot and was never picked up on it... Oh and and re the sleeping...I just do the same as before dreads e.g. nothing special
i throw mine all up in a bun at night. i cant stand them wrapping around my face n getting in my eyes, nose n mouth... I do have to say though that this is the longest my hair has been in about 22 years and the last time it was cut it was shaved bald so sleeping with loads of hair is pretty new to me
lol nah this has been 6 years of growth since the shaved head... so its been a long time since i had mid back length hair...
Just to nit pick at every little response like you do...While it might save a tiny amount of server space it will certainly use more bandwidth.. Once the initial search is completed the user then selects the threads that are most relevant often viewing more than one thread. So technically if the user just created a new thread or better yet just not have responded to a two year old thread, there would be less bandwidth used. There are entirely more pages loaded and links clicked when using the search engine vs just starting a new thread. Although just because it uses less bandwidth doesn't make it any less annoying. With this said, this board is becoming increasingly annoying to read your bullshit responses to particular post. If you really cared about server space and bandwidth for the webmaster you would reply to every post with rude know-it-all comment. Get a fucking life and just because you this :cheers2: emoticon after every rude comment doesn't make it tolerable or what your saying less ignorant. I personally hate wasting my time reading a thread only to find that it was from two years ago with one new response...then the rest of the board chimes in without looking at the date as if it is a new relevant topic. IMO, stfu.
i do believe that more than one person has responded to this thread since it was brought back from the dead.. I must wonder why this thread is any less important now than it was when it was first written. We must all sleep on our dreads since they do happen to be attached to our heads
