I've been balancing my oxycodone habit with sporatic use of DXM, ensuring that the two never mix. I was curious as to whether I could simultaenously take them without going into respiratory failure.

    ** I normally take 120-150 Mg of Oxy/Day
    Or 160 Mg of DXM/Day

But mainly to rephrase the question... is DXM considered an anti depressent, because I know it's unhealthy to mix depressants and anti depressants.

dxm works as an opiod agonist, that's all i know. but the combo may be deadly, especially in higher doses.

DXM is not an anti-depressant. It's a dissociative that happens to increase your heart rate, which would balance out against the oxy so you're good.

The opposite of a depressant is not an anti-depressant; it's a stimulant.

Anti-depressants are psychiatric drugs like Prozac fyi.

What you heard about mixing stimulants and depressants only applies in the following scenario:

You shoot heroin. You are nodding. You think "Oh hey, lets do some coke."

You snort some coke. Now you're really in heaven. You do a whole bunch more coke for the next hour, and then to finish it off, you shoot up H again.

Now, this is dangerous because what cocaine is flying towards is a heart attack, and what heroin is flying towards is your heart stopping. What you can actually do is *temporarily mask* one of these effects by giving your heart the other thing, but when this other thing wears out, you give in to the initial effects.

So in this scenario, you are actually ODing on heroin, and the only thing keeping you alive is the fact that you just jump-started your entire body with cocaine. As soon as that yayo runs out however, you are right back down to "baseline", which is your heart being stopped by heroin. That is what the danger is. Notice that this is only a problem if you are dealing with dosages in which this is a problem in the first place.

If you are gonna take the same oxy dose you always take, then obviously that is ok, since your body is adjusted to still live on that dose.
