Is it uncool to believe in God?

It is not uncool to believe in God. Some judgemental morons like to make it look uncool. Most of the time they are stuck in some adolescent thought patterns and narrowminded perspectives.

And ye, it is uncool to believe in fantasy, miracles and magic and whatewver other woo is foolishly believed in.

Some would think those that do to be quite gullible and as you say, adolescent and narrow-minded.

Is that your prayer friend that you stand before god and I do not, when? My faith is that I stand with god now and the works of that faith are that you are welcome to my time. That it is worth my time to help uncover your blessings that we might stand together because we share our thoughts whether they be of peace or of war and we cannot escape the effects of our thinking. We get the world our verdicts describe or by our words we are justified as our mouths speak the abundance of our heart becoming the conviction of our minds.

You watch too many youtube videos or you watch the same ones too often.

I would sincerely like to hear some genuine expression of your own!

Here is a quote that I feel addresses the issue of belief in God seeming "uncool."

"the greatest single cause of atheism in the world today is christians, who acknowledge God with thier mouth, then walk out the door and deny Him by their lifestyle, that is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable."

It isn't Christ, but the Christians who tend to make the lifestyle seem unappealing.

Raised Catholic and sent to catholic school for 10 yrs(2yrs of HS)-
I raged full force against the Church and the hypocrisy of it all. The shame, the guilt, the absurdity, the contradictions...the lies.
As a kid, I would cry in bed and ask God for forgiveness over the mundane things that I considered would send me to:devil: Hell. A place that I knew existed and I may go to if I didn't pick up my room or whatever. Now I laugh at that, but am far more afraid of the inevitable nothingness I and everything I have ever loved may become and return to someday.
Thats just me- ones beliefs about religion, politics,sex, or whatever shouldn't be judged , they should be respected. This way no-one has to be concerned what is hip or not

It is my view that all literalists and fundamentals hurt all of us who are moral religionists as well as those who do not believe. They all hurt their parent religions and everyone else who has a belief or not. They make us all into laughing stocks and should rethink their position. There is a Godhead but not the God of talking animals, genocidal floods and retribution. Beliefs in fantasy, miracles and magic are evil.

I don't recognize your religion from your walk. I don't know of any religion who's mantra is shame on you! I recognize you believe in a mythical creature called righteous indignation, an impossible creature with two heads that go in opposite directions. There is no indignity in righteousness and dignity can not be had save you share it with your brother and in this you find righteousness and dignity.

 

I do not usually pray as praying is one of the most self-centered processes that a man can do.

You forget how hard Jesus pushed that notion.

I admit to having been weak enough to do so a time or two only. To my shame.

When someone is bothering children in Africa and/or pushing their own beliefs onto others that is certainly a concern and worth convicting. Believing in God is not.

So the prospect that we stand together makes you feel weak? I think prayer mental concentration and I find it no surprise that you had not engaged in it often. Prayer is self centering and we gather that prayer occurred to you because the truth had moved you from your smug position. There is no shame in gaining your balance but it if can be taken from you so easily then we might surmise your position not exactly balanced in it's own right.

 

Can't a prayer also be just giving thanks and praise? How is that self centering?

 

Happens upon self reflection. It is your sense of gratitude.

However I would go on to say there are no idle thoughts and each thought resonates into your life as you entertain them. This is why it is said we pray without ceasing keep an alert mental focus because of the creative power of the mind.
