Is it uncool to believe in God? As a Pagan - and of olde Hippie values - I'm a believer that it is FAITH in that wiTch ever one feel most comfortable with - I think the Irish comic 'Dave Allen' put it best at the end of his TV show - always finishing with the line "and may your God, go with you"
It depends on what one considers to be cool, cool depends on popularity and personal opinion but many of the most important and best ideas in world have depended on people who were considered "uncool" when they came up with them.
I just think christians are ignorant. Faith is powerful. Belief in a higher power is not uncool or ignorant. I believe in something. Just haven't figured it out yet. Baptists and catholics are the MOST uncool.
The belief in god makes no sense to me. Despite this, I don't believe that an idea or opinion should be considered cool or uncool. Personal opinion should not be subject to the criticism of public opinion, although the majority of Americans tend to think differently. If by cool you mean popular, then yes it is. Most people I know are Christians. But then again I can only speak for my area, which is rural western Pennsylvania.
I dont think having a religious belief can be classed as cool or uncool. People beleive in what they beleive in. To beleive in something because its 'cool' isnt truly beleiving. I think we all beleive in something be that god, satan, fairies, witchcraft, aliens etc... and if we are honest... do we give a shit about if people think its cool or uncool??? Each to their own.
my definition of God, is the God of the bible.. and cool= popular thus being, believing in the God of the bible is unpopular and I know the general populace hates to be uncool/unpopular and do not want to look bad in the eyes of there fellow man so would maybe choose or say that they do not believe.
I think you are confusing correlation with causation.... Maybe the non-believers just happen to be cool people already.
Many years ago in Greece she thought to comment at the requiring of money at the bank machine that I was a control freak. With religion: instead of appropriate psychology, I feel now after-all that she was mistaken.
The bible being a book doesn't have a god so a meaningless definition to me. Many would deny three times before the cock crows.
Then who is the bible talking about at Psalms 83:18? and Jesus was talking to Peter about the cock crowing, so what is your point?
You would have to tell me what is written there as I can't hear the bible say anything from where I am sitting. I was saying that in answer to your question it is often construed as uncool to be associated with Christian themes.
