is it true if you do acid so many times you can go insane?

some people say yes and some people say no. how many times can a person do acid untill it starts to affect who they really are? and can you go insane from acid?

 

It all depends on the person, and of course the amount. But yes you can. If you take several 1,000mc's at once i'm sure you would eventually. Some people have only taken a few hundred mc's at once and have gone insane. Maybe not for life but for a while. They pretty much completely lose touch with reality.

 

In very high doses it can happen, but people who go insane usually already have mental illness and LSD triggers it to get worst.

ive seen ppl take whole sheets and be ok.. and seen ppl go insane..or..more insane at least off 1
most ppl it does take a fair ammount but not everyone
and taking alot over an extended time can make ya pretty whacky too if not technicaly insane

 

Well, I don't think it's the so many times as the doseage. Usually people that dose ridiculously high have some sort of problem after. There's also flashbacks for heavy users and other things along the lines of that. I've talked a friend from highschool that knew nothing about LSD or anything and he did a LSD pill. He said the person he got it from said it worked alright fast, so he assumed about 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, he decided to do an other because it wasnt working yet. He eventually did this until he had taken 6 or 7 pills. He said about 2 hours later he was having the trip of his life, and a half good and half bad one too. After that he had a speech impediment (he talked slowly and doesn't pronounce some words correctly), he also says he is generally slower at everything. He isn't insane, but it's what happened to him...

 

Acid can leave some longterm after effects, like edginess, and detatchment from reality, but it does wear off in most all cases, unless you've got some serious underyling mental issues.

That's crazy about your friend btw. I must say getting slower at everything is just a general overall symptom of drug abuse, all drugs will do that to you in some respect. The speech impediment is a bit fucked though, did you talk to him much about it? Did this happen like, straight after the trip or came on gradually?

ive seen a single dose really flip out someone who was already lil unstable
but the more long termive seen
like 1 freind constantly mumbles under his breath..and cant control what he says or how inapropriate he acts

i've also met ppl whove decided they were gods or goddesses from quetziquatl damn im way too stoned to spell that..to 1 sis that was so extremely beautiful u could almost believe she was a goddess..oh then there used to be a performer here who dosed herself insane thought she was the reincarnation of janis joplin her husband was satan and her son jesus she was so crazy shed take a pot or something out of your kitchen into the back yard and shit in it cause she just never knew what she wasd doing

You can be dubbed insane by the govt but not from just taking acid, you have to be dubbed it from your actions and brain pattern etc, not just from eating acid. And when you are legally insane or w/e, the govt can make every choce for you, since yor insane, you dent get a say in your choices/rights kinda thing.

 

Since there is no system of measurement for insanity you can't rightly say whether someone is insane or not. It's just carried out to be what society in general makes it to be. You can just use your opinion on the matter and decide who's insane and who isn't. The 7 hits and you're legaly insane bullshit isn't true. There is not such thing as legally insane. If you have a deep rooted mental illness that you don't know about then any number of hits can make you go insane. I know a schitzo dude that has taken acid a few times, and he's fine, As long as he has his medicine. It just depends.

Insanity isn't the only issue when it comes to side effects from LSD. Anxiety issues, over awarness of bodily sensations, depression, etc, are also negative symptoms. I happened to have had retreived the anxiety, and depression that cames from taking it. And i still have it running strong on me after several months. I shouldn't have been taking it during these times

 

Just like how many licks does it take to get to the candy centre of a tootsie roll lolly pop, how many hits does it take to get to the centre of your mind...yeah, im eating a tootsie roll pop.

I think this should be reiterated: "Insane" doesn't mean anything- any psych 101 class will teach you that. There is no such thing as 'legally' insane, and the word 'insane' means nothing clinically.

As far as exacerbating mental problems, this can happen from LSD. It can happen your first time or after repeated uses. It can magnify quirks of your personality or it can dull them. It is basically unpredictable in its outcome. With proper guidance however, I'd say you're likely to have more positive change than negative.
