the man who started up the company that my husband works for is one of the kindest and most ethical human beings i've ever seen in my entire life. the way he set it up is that at the end of every year all the profits are split up between the employees. they have a big meeting where everything is hashed out and fairly divvied up. many of the employees end up making more than he does. he's retiring this year, and he's filthy rich, but he's still the sort of person who never forgets a name or a birthday and he really cares about his employees.
Those are the kind of people who are remembered... 100 years after they are dead. If he's retiring, make sure he knows how everyone feels about him NOW. Retirement kills more people than cigarettes.
oh, man, we're putting together the best damned party and tribute. with his retirement he's buying a sportsbar. it's going to be a small venue for local bands and such. it's awesome.
my little sister's godfather made a living buying and selling all kinds of stuff. he was a good, wonderful man. he had a way of making people feel valuable and showing that value. the money he accumulated was never more than a sheer convenience for doing the wonderful things in life he could for his family and his friends. ravi shankar's wife, however, is a barracuda, bless her heart.
Some of the most corrupt people I have ever met in my life are failures and poor. To them, others are just there to steal from and lie to. They lie and steal when it would have been easier just to work for it or ask for it. Before I get flamed, I KNOW there are poor but good, honest people out there. I like to think I'm one of them!
Depends on the person. Knowing myself, I can say that as I am- with my background and character flaws I would likely be most corrupt. It's life's daily struggle that keeps me grounded.
Well just to answer the question "IS IT POSSIBLE?" Of course it's possible. Likely with many people? Maybe not.
no, if you are way beyond comftrable you can't be happy or healthy because it shows you have a tendency to hoard money or possesions. I hoard clothing and fruit. I think I am really good about not overconsuming besides that. I like nice things, but I don't like a huge excess of things or money. I would never want more than one car or a really big house.
But beyond possesions- you know, just money.... someone can make a lot of money right and not hoard possesions or buy flashy things and use their money to donate and travel the world and learn, right?
it honestly mystifies me that people sincerely believe they can rightly judge another's character based solely on no other factor than their financial status. the self-righteous equating of material poverty with spiritual purity is just as simplistic and classist as the ignorant assumption that the poor are all lazy and drug-addicted.
And it goes both ways. Good people come with no money and good people do come with lots of money also bad people of both. (Good and bad used in the most simplistic way)
