and into my room? I read a few days ago, that a guy did it and his room started to "breathe" together with him... that's scary... is there risk of occuring a bad trip even if the dose is low?

There is nothing inherently dangerous about taking LSD alone. However it will alter your perception and decision making so if there is anything around your immeadiate area that may pose a risk of injury like sharp objects, things you could trip on (no pun intended), etc. You will want to clear up that space.

There is probably the equal chance of having a bad trip or difficult trip alone or with others, some of that may tilt in one direction or the other based on your type of personality. Bad trips are more likely to occur with a higher dose but it's no guarantee it will not happen on a lower dose.

Go into the trip in a good headspace and open mind and you will likely enjoy it.

I recommend doing it with someone that has tripped before. You CAN get lost and confused. Since I was 28 when I first dropped,my personality was pretty well formed and it still got very intense and I was glad someone was there to remind me--"it's the acid"--not to worry. To each their own, however.

And to add: the person doesn't have to say much of anything but when a guide is needed to re-ground you,it's good to have someone that knows what you may be going thru---------

You've said a few things here that make me worry that you are very unprepared (even as far "prepared" as one can be for this experience). The first thing you said that worries me is that, just a few days ago, you heard about a guy who's room started to breathe on acid. This tells me you don't know very much about LSD and its effects if such news is, well, news to you. On LSD the entire universe will breathe with you. The second thing that worries me, is that the thought of your room breathing with you, is a scary thought. Are you sure you are the kind of person who should be taking mind-altering substances? On a good dose of LSD you will enter a place that makes Alice in Wonderland look quaint and boring. If the thought of your walls breathing makes you uncomfortable while you are sober, then how do you expect to handle the reality of your walls breathing when you are intoxicated?

Walls breathing is not a bad trip man. That is fundamental effect of LSD, and most psychedelics. You can have a bad trip even on a low dose, in fact there is some debate about whether they are even more likely on lower doses than higher doses. I'm more worried about your misconceptions about the psychedelic experience and whether or not you're ready as a person to be taking LSD.

I would recommend it, not because you are going to get hurt, but because you could do something that would get you busted. I tripped with my friend and we were both tripping, and I ended up nearly getting busted by my neighbor, who told my dad she thought she overheard us talking about LSD. Having a sober sitter can help you deal with the unfamiliarity of the acid experience, as I can guarantee it is different than you expect it to be.

Shit gets a lot weirder than breathing walls, my friend. The universe will explode right in front of your eyes. What I like to do is just to psychologically assign a certain object, such as a water bottle, good vibes. Whenever things start getting a little weirder than anticipated, I just take a drink of water and the good vibes come rushing back.

Yes, because you've never done it before. I personally never did LSD alone anyway. I have been in situations where it was helpful to have another person to ground me.

There is a reason that a basic tenant of lsd harm reduction for years was to have a sitter for your first time. Not mandatory but a good idea.
That said, a bad sitter is worse than any other scenario you can imagine. Period.

If you are scared by the idea of such a vision, then LSD is the wrong thing for you. Move along :bobby:

Really... there isn't anything to be truly scared of... all it is, is you. Your inner most thoughts come to the surface, your subconcious is unlocked, your brain allows you to experience more sensory input.

In my experiences... things "breathing" is a normal hallucination with LSD - I found it hilarious (have a look at my first trip report - http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=459010&f=117 ).

Also - I would strongly recommend against making your very first trip solo. It's wise to have someone to look after you early on. When you're prepared - you certainly can experience it solo in the future - but it's most definitely worth being careful.

I was relatively lucky - I felt ready to have my first solo trip on my second trip. My partner, however - after having ~6 trips - is still not ready to go solo. So it depends on the person.

Most definitely - ideally you really need a sitter who's a bit experienced with LSD - even just a single trip is enough to give most a lot of insight into how acid can affect your thought processes.

A single word can spawn a trip (I don't see the whole session as a trip, there are lots of different trips contained within a session)... if that word has negative vibes for you, it can turn "bad" and if you don't know how to deal with it - that can spiral a bit out of control. If you figure out how to manage it, you can come out of it feeling better than you went in.

I recently had a Donnie Darko mirror moment type of visual distortion - went back into the other room to describe it to my sober sitter (interacting with sober people can be frustrating in of itself). I love the film, it's never freaked me out or anything - in fact I think it's one of the best films made. However, it freaks my girlfriend out a bit - especially the rabbit. She started describing what was freaking her out... that spawned the idea within me & I started freaking out a bit from it. Thankfully that didn't last long as I realised it didn't actually freak me out at all and it was just some silly idea that she had put in my mind, then I moved on. But if you don't know how to get past it, that kind of thing can spiral downward fast.

LSD should not really be seen as a recreational drug in my opinion - it needs to be respected and only certain types of people seem to be able to handle the experience well - although, to be fair, those are generally the types who seek it out in the first place. Certain minds can handle it a lot better than others, I count myself extremely lucky in this department :)

Might seem like some negative comments - they really aren't. I've seen the edge of a bad trip and managed to recover it while going in. I don't think most people (general population) would be able to do that, especially when so inexperienced. That's why I think you need to be careful with this substance.

Enjoy it, it can be the most amazing thing you've ever experienced. But, if you're not ready for it or willing to accept it, it can be your worst nightmare. As you are now, you cannot imagine what it's like, many have tried and they always figure out they were wrong and it was sooo much more than they ever imagined :D

It's a wonderful thing - I recommend you do more research before diving head-first in.

    That's a good post Tasty ^^^
I agree about Donny Darko, first time I saw it I felt like I tripped a little bit, sober. :) Lot's to contemplate there...
This I think is a good attempt at explaining one way a trip can go south. The thing about the psychedelic headspace is, when it's new it's all so new, the territory is unfamiliar and you have little understanding of how to navigate the landscape. After you've been there a few times, you know where you are, it's a place you've been before. It can be equated with physical places in analogy.
Going to a forest the first time, it's all new, which is exciting and amazing. But you don't know the safe places, how to get from here to there, the awesome overlook to sit and soak up the view. After you've gone a few times you know the layout, the topography so to speak and so then yes, you can key in on that word or action that can lead to a bad scene and turn things around.

It's the same reason people hire a guide when they go to the Himalayas or Afganistan. It helps to have someone that knows the geography and local customs.

    Didn't read the whole thread.
Trips alone aren't more scary or dangerous, but you are more fully enveloped in your trip I think. This is because there is nobody to distract you or tether you to reality.

There is a huge difference between the company of people who have used psychedelics before and the average person while tripping. Many times the things people do around you if they don't know what trips people out can cause you to have unpleasant moments.

If you want to trip by yourself, do it by yourself. If you feel like you will need someone to talk to, wait until someone can join you. It's especially good to trip with other people tripping on the same level.

My preference is alone at night for exploration of the non-physical. To me, tripping with people is usually more recreational, which is still great.
